May 11, 201411 yr Yes but this is a song by a British act that are unheard of in their own country  Songs by complete unknowns that can't even claim international success don't just get American support overnight like this every day. It hasn't been overnight though. They've been hard at it promoting over there for a few months from my understanding. It's not some random phenomenon - it's a case of a potential smash being given the investment to reach that potential.
May 11, 201411 yr Author Can't understand the success of Rixton? A british boy band (akin to Lawson) who have done nothing in the UK yet a top 15 hit in the States? Unheard of! They are managed by Scooter Braun (Justin Bieber's manager). He also managed The Wanted, hence why they suddenly cracked the US.
May 11, 201411 yr They are managed by Scooter Braun (Justin Bieber's manager). He also managed The Wanted, hence why they suddenly cracked the US. That and the existence of 'Glad You Came' ;). And I believe that took a few months of gradual climbing as well.
May 11, 201411 yr i think with rixton, they are an exception as opposed to the rule when promoting an act. their label hasn't decided to take the traditional path of releasing the track in the uk to use as a barometer for success rather launching them in a very friendly US guise (both sonically and the rest). their label is evidently spending A LOT of money on them what with performance slots on the voice etc. you throw a lot of money at something and it tends to do well. whether payola comes into the equation we shall never know but its success doesn't surprise me. it'll undoubtedly be a number one when released here in july... tbh it takes a lot of balls but then there's nothing 'british' about them at all really with their maroon 5 knock-off of a track
May 11, 201411 yr This top 3 has got to be closer than any one we ever got in the UK! :o It's good John Legend got #1. It's had so long at #2. He could be #1 next week as well.
May 11, 201411 yr It's amazing that the top 3 can have nearly the same amount of chart points! Pharrell seemed likely to challenge for most weeks at #1 but 10 weeks is even less than he's had in other countries, and it's good to see "All Of Me" reach #1. Of course "Happy" could maybe re-climb if the gap stays close. Obscene amounts of movement this week *.* "Animals", "Hey Brother", and "The Man" dropping a bit fast there... Yes but this is a song by a British act that are unheard of in their own country  Songs by complete unknowns that can't even claim international success don't just get American support overnight like this every day.I've been suspicious of Kongos for the same reason. "Come With Me Now" climbed very fast to #1 on alternative radio for a group with no known success elsewhere (not really sure how big they are in South Africa). Edited May 11, 201411 yr by Barbariser
May 11, 201411 yr Author That and the existence of 'Glad You Came' ;). And I believe that took a few months of gradual climbing as well. The Wanted would not have cracked the US without Scooter Braun.
