The clash

The Damned

The Ramones

The stranglers

i haven't got enough material of other artists to really comment on them.

The Clash were my favourite Punk band but I preferred the New Wave Power Pop of Elvis Costello, Squeeze & XTC.

Stranglers

Class act.

were the stranglers a punk band? i cant answer that with memory as i wasnt around when they were big, however in those history books about different bands i think they always say that they were more like binmen than proper punks

generation x

the dammed were good when they supported T.rex back in 1977

i thought generation x refered to the early 90s generation, the grunge kids etc? wouldnt punks be something like generation s?

Nah Tiger, Generation X were a post-punk band of the late-70s, and a pretty piss-poor one at that. Generation X gave the world the ridiculous poltroon that is Billy Idol - reason enough to despise them.....

The Grunge Generation just appropriated the term, or rather the music journos of the Grunge Generation appropriated the term.....

The Clash

Sex Pistols

Joy Division

'Punk'

Pistols, Clash, Buzzcocks, the Damned, Sham 69.

'New wave'

Elvis costello, Graham Parker, Blondie, Ian Dury, The Jam, The stranglers
