Katy should be #2 very soon but I'm not sure that she'll catch Robin. It'd be a bit disappointing if she didn't get the iTunes #1 :(

up to #2

Not far off #1 :o

So Lady Gaga is releasing her single today. The war is ON!

Indeed. And it's an absolute banger!! I love it. Hope she releases in the UK too.

For some reason it reminds me of Spice Up Your Life.

But yup, I'm Team GaGa on this one!

Move aside, Katy, I love Roar but it's no GaGa stomper!

Wonder if the record labels wanted this battle all along

Edit: Also wonder what Katy said when she heard about the rush-release.

The production on "Applause" reminds me a little of Calvin Harris ft Example "We'll Be Coming Back".

Thankfully Robin Thickle seems to be decreasing more than the top 10 now, which is allowing Miley / Jay Z to at least slowly close the gap!

01. Katy Perry - Roar 100%

02. Robin Thicke Feat T.I Feat Pharrell - Blurred Lines 43%

03. Miley Cyrus - We Can't Stop 26.2%

04. Jay Z Feat Justin Timberlake - Holy Grail 25.3%

05. Avicii - Wake Me Up 21.1%

20. Paramore - Still Into You :o Wow at the effect the Teen Choice Awards has had!

33. Demi Lovato - Made In The Usa

47. The Wanted - We Own The Night

65. Fifth Harmony - Miss Movin On

71. Emblem 3 - Chloe (You're The One That I Want)

'Roar' is really looking at huge sales, it'll be very impressive indeed if Gaga passes it. 500k+ for Katy, I think.

But it will probably slow down towards the end of the week like One Direction did.

I don't feel as if One Direction got as big a lead as Katy has - am I wrong? Worth noting that Katy will have much better airplay than 1D which should help her hold up. I've overestimated how much 'Blurred Lines' is selling on a weekly basis, though. I thought it was closer to 400k (your sig comes in handy!). Katy will probably do similarly to what she did with 'Part of Me', I guess.

It was bigger, and much quicker too.

I'm wondering how front-loaded the sales will be, as 'Roar' (imo) isn't as instant as 'Applause'.

Blurred Lines was 405k last week, but that was during its album release week.

It should be nearer 300k this week.

 3. Lady Gaga - Applause

 71. Lady Gaga - Applause

I don't know why, but I expected it to shoot to #1.

It's hard to tell how fast it's selling, as we're now comparing to Katy as the benchmark and not Robin.

Still #3 combined.

YES LADY GAGA  Hopefully she goes to #1 on iTunes, there is no chance of beating Katy to the Billboard #1 though.

Ouch. The song is already going into free-fall. One Direction/Taylor Swift/Lil Wayne/Glee Cast who?

It's possible neither of them will get #1. They're unlucky to be against Blurred Lines, which must have astronomically high points atm.

I don't see Katy getting to #1.

Robin Thicke's airplay is too strong.
