1151. One More Day (Stay with Me) - Example

Jesus christ, that's woeful. I really do wonder why Radio 1 seems so intent on supporting him when it's clear the public interest isn't there. Talk about flogging a dead horse.

Call My Name was released when all the massive hype around Cheryl was dying and the fact that Calvin produced it contributed heavily to its success imo. Unless she's got a massive artist, apart from Pharrell, on board with it, then I doubt OA/OS will work for her. If she debuted anywhere other than the Top 5 by releasing OA/OS, the media will specifically highlight that claiming she's flopped.

I don't think the media really give a shit about chart position at all, they seem to be so disconnected to the charts.

I remember when Girls Aloud finally got a single missing the top10, everyone thought it would be a big deal since it was their big "chart record", but not one single media mentioned it.

Same for "Under the sun" for Cheryl, it was her second single off the album and missed the top10, but no one really cared for that.

I agree with what you're saying for the most part as the media don't really report on chart positions. The only times when they do is when it's by a high profile artist with their big comeback single, like Cheryl's would be here or when a single misses the Top 40/200.
Secondcity is a pre-order! That explains Kworb, I've been wondering why it has been flopping so badly. So when does it come out?

:arrowright:2. Fuse ODG - Dangerous Love (feat. Sean Paul)

It's crazy to think that only ONE song in the whole entire history of music has been bought more times than this on iTunes now. It's a shame he cant get ahead of Sam Smith but it's still a great achievement.

Well done Fuse you're doing Ghana and Africa proud!

I don't know if it was mentioned but a fantastic song is now 59p

102 Fat Joe feat. Ja Rule & Ashanti - What's Luv

126. There Goes My Baby (feat. Flo Rida) - Enrique Iglesias

Really hope Enrique can get another Top 40 with this! It's really catchy!

35. Zedd - Clarity (feat. Foxes)

37. Little Mix - Salute

56. Morrissey - Istanbul

80. deadmau5 - Avaritia

82. Michael Jackson - Slave to the Rhythm

566. Milky Chance - Stolen Dance

678. Kwabs - Pray For Love

The thing is, a lot of people really hate Cheryl, so if she misses #1 they'll be delighted and act like her career is over. For other artists it's not a big deal, but for Cheryl it is. It's like when JLS missed #1 with one of their pre-album singles, people were celebrating at their "failure", even though there's millions of other artists who have never had a #1 in the first place. That would happen to Cheryl as well imo.

Radio 1 playlists less successful artists than Example. I think Example is having less success now mainly since dance-pop is out of fashion now. Back in 2011 when Changed the Way You Kiss Me, etc. were out, he literally had the easiest time getting a hit, since his style of music was perfect for the mainstream. That said, I haven't listened to this song, so maybe he's changed his music style, in which case, ignore what I've just said.

Yeah, it's not actually a big achievement when you think about it.

Say what?

Say what?

It's #2 on iTunes. That means out of every track ever released in music history, Fuse ODG's is the 2nd most downloaded right now (at least on iTunes).

Yeah, it's not actually a big achievement when you think about it.

It's always a big achievement. You try getting a song to #2 on iTunes.

Of course, it's a lot easier for Fuse ODG since he's signed to a major record label, has had previous hits, is famous, and has another famous artist featuring, gets played on Radio 1 and Capital, and so on, but it's still an achievement.

He's not SAVED AFRICA'S REPUTATION has he.

Yeah, it's not actually a big achievement when you think about it.

It's done better than expected, currently #31 on the rolling radio play.

There's also no video as of yet - doing much better than expected!

Dangerous Love was always heading for Top 10 though, wasn't it? #2 is nice but sales are really low at the moment.

This Sunday! :w00t:

Jools effect possible for the following tonight & Friday

Ed Sheeran, Chrissie Hynde, White Denim, Kelis, Hurray for the Riff Raff & Nick Mulvey!

I fully expect Sing to jump into the top 75 afterwards! And yes Second City is out Sunday - about bloody time!!!

I understand what being number 2 right at this moment means  but it certainly doesn't mean that only one song has ever been bought more in the whole history of music, which is what he posted. That would make it the 2nd biggest selling song ever.
