Posted May 23, 201411 yr Coldplay Heading for Year's Best Sales Week Billboard (May 21st 2014): "Coldplay's new album, "Ghost Stories", is on track to score the largest sales week of the year. Industry sources suggest the album, which was released on May 19, may sell upwards of 350,000 to 375,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, May 25. That figure would easily surpass the current largest week of 2014, set by the debut of Eric Church's "The Outsiders", which sold 288,000 in the week ending Feb. 16, according to Nielsen SoundScan." In second place on next week's Billboard 200 chart will likely be country singer Brantley Gilbert, with the arriving "Just As I Am". The set should secure the artist his best sales week yet -- with between 175,000 and 200,000 -- and his highest charting album. Other albums in the hunt for a high debut on next week's Billboard 200 including Phillip Phillips' sophomore set, "Behind the Light”, with maybe 35,000 and the soundtrack to "The Fault In Our Stars”, with around 30,000." http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/...best-sales-week

May 23, 201411 yr Author Coldplay's 'Ghost Stories' Sales Forecast Grows Billboard (May 23rd 2014): "The sales forecast for Coldplay's new "Ghost Stories" album has grown. The set, which was already on course for the largest sales week this year, is now aiming to sell between 370,000 and 390,000 copies in the week ending May 25 (according to industry sources). "Ghost Stories" should easily bow at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, landing the British rock band its fourth chart-topper (and fourth No. 1 studio effort in a row). It follows 2011's "Mylo Xyloto," which entered atop the list with 447,000. The group previously hit No. 1 with 2008's "Viva La Vida Or Death and All His Friends" and 2005's "X&Y." May 23, 201411 yr Good for Coldplay, well deserved! I plan on buying the album tomorrow . (I'm still team physical over digital). Glad Iggy continues to go up in sales ever since her second week. She needs to try to bring attention to "Work", "Bounce" and "Change Your Life"... unless her and her team are gonna try and re-release them.
May 23, 201411 yr That figure would easily surpass the current largest week of 2014, set by the debut of Eric Church's "The Outsiders", which sold 288,000 in the week ending Feb. 16, according to Nielsen SoundScan." Not that I have any idea who that is whatsoever. (Gosh, I feel like vidcapper)
May 23, 201411 yr Not that I have any idea who that is whatsoever. (Gosh, I feel like vidcapper) Country singer, tbf he's not made any impact in the UK so you can be forgiven :P I wasn't even aware he was that big in the US (I knew he was popular but not 288k in a week popular)!
May 23, 201411 yr Really impressive for Coldplay, only about 75k down on their last album which was released for the Christmas season! Hopefully it can have some legs.
May 24, 201411 yr Country singer, tbf he's not made any impact in the UK so you can be forgiven :P I wasn't even aware he was that big in the US (I knew he was popular but not 288k in a week popular)! Actually he did make a very minor UK impact with this album! It charted at #70. $ucce$$ The 2014 UK record for first week sales so far is similarly someone who has made no impact at all in the USA (Paolo Nutini, although actually I see his first two albums charted at #48 and #57 in the USA but 'Caustic Love' apparently hasn't been released there yet, it might do better than 'The Outsiders' did here when it is released though :P) And that is a very healthy sales projection for Coldplay, not too far off their last opening sales and those were in Q4! Another random country act coming for sales not far off those of 'The Outsiders' this week, I wonder if the UK should be looking out for a low top 100 entry for Brantley Gilbert soon. Probably not :P Michael Jackson holding up a lot better than The Black Keys!
May 24, 201411 yr Author Brantley Gilbert Heading for No. 2 Debut on Billboard 200 Chart Billboard (May 23rd 2014): "Country singer Brantley Gilbert is on his way to a smashing debut on the Billboard 200 chart. His new "Just As I Am" album, which was released on May 19, could sell around 200,000 copies in the week ending May 25, according to industry forecasters. Next week's top 10 could also see new entries from Phillip Phillips and the multi-artist soundtrack to "The Fault In Our Stars”. Phillips' "Behind the Light" could sell maybe 35,000, while the "Fault" album may shift 30,000 or so." http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/...board-200-chart
