May 28, 201411 yr I'm really surprised in general by The Black Keys falling behind Michael Jackson despite outcharting him first week. I would have thought MJ would naturally be most front-loaded?
May 29, 201411 yr I'm really surprised in general by The Black Keys falling behind Michael Jackson despite outcharting him first week. I would have thought MJ would naturally be most front-loaded? i was expecting the opposite :kink: obviously Black Keys are quite big now, but not really to the same extent as MJ in terms of 'casual album buyer' appeal (at least that's how i saw things oop.)
May 29, 201411 yr i was expecting the opposite :kink: obviously Black Keys are quite big now, but not really to the same extent as MJ in terms of 'casual album buyer' appeal (at least that's how i saw things oop.) Well I mean it's hard to imagine MJ picking up many new fans with a posthumous release  Then again The Black Keys aren't exactly storming radio so I suppose there's not much to keep them afloat either.
May 29, 201411 yr I don't think Michael Jackson particularly has to pick up new fans though, as he's obviously already so established. A lot more so than The Black Keys, so as Seven says, casual buyers are more likely to check out an album from Michael Jackson than The Black Keys, I guess.
May 29, 201411 yr Great numbers for Coldplay. Hitting over 200k in the US is a big thing at this point. I remember when the albums sitting at the lower end of the top 10 had sales over 200k. 380k is huge considering the lead single has barely made any waves. And I hope Iggy continues to increase her sales like this! Loving the stability. I say they better go ahead and prepare "Black Widow" for single treatment. Send it to radio as soon as "Fancy" starts to decrease (which could take weeks!), and have that video ready for the best possible moment. I also think she should re-release "Work" towards the end of the era.
May 29, 201411 yr Wouldn't 'Work' be best considering it's so high on iTunes at the moment? Certainly seems to have the most buzz. I don't think Michael Jackson particularly has to pick up new fans though, as he's obviously already so established. A lot more so than The Black Keys, so as Seven says, casual buyers are more likely to check out an album from Michael Jackson than The Black Keys, I guess. Well I would have thought the fact that he's not picking up more fans would have meant he was more inclined to be frontloaded, but I suppose you are right that casual buyers will lean more towards him.
May 30, 201411 yr I think "Black Widow" would do better commercially. Release that with a bangin' video in mid-late June. Release "Work" with a new video and a killer VMA performance. But, either would be just dandy with me, both are amazing songs.
