June 4, 201411 yr LEONA LEWIS has never upset anybody in her life. But the singer has left SIMON COWELL feeling emptier than his shirt buttonholes by securing her own exit from his label Syco. The former X Factor winner announced her new deal with Island Records yesterday — more than seven years after she became the ITV show’s first big winner. But despite Simon tweeting his support for Leona, the music mogul was privately stunned by her departure. A source said: “Simon assumed Leona would remain a part of the Sony family long-term — leaving Syco but moving on to another section of the label. “She negotiated the deal behind Simon’s back despite knowing he wanted her to stay. “It’s a real blow and Simon feels snubbed.” Shortly after Leona’s new deal was announced, the X Factor chief tweeted: “Congratulations Leona. We had 7 great years together and now wish you all the best for the future. You put X Factor on the map. X” Simon must have been tweeting with steam coming out of his ears, as he had big plans for her. It was his idea to release Leona’s successful Christmas album last year and it was viewed as a launch pad for bigger things. But ultimately Leona felt she was going stale at Syco and needed a change. She also knew she was low down on the label’s list of priorities. Leona, who was recently named as the most successful British female solo artist in UK chart history, talked about the move in a statement. She said: “After seven incredible years at Sony I feel honoured to be given the opportunity to sign to perhaps the most iconic label of all, Island Records. To me Island has always been a label where artists can really flourish and are encouraged to express themselves. “Island stands for quality music and signing with such a legendary label is really like a dream come true for me. “I can’t wait to start making music with my new team.” Fingers crossed she can translate some of this new-found attitude into her music. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showb...nd-records.html
June 4, 201411 yr ^ It's from The Sun, I'd take it with a pinch of salt. They most probably made it up for publicity/controversy.
June 4, 201411 yr Author That's almost definitely going to be made up. I imagine they are both still on very good terms. Simon only has himself to blame for Leona leaving the label anyway!
June 4, 201411 yr I believe/hope she has made the right decision to maintain and sustain a career. The next album will be very interesting.
June 6, 201411 yr I hope we at least get one new single from Island before The Christmas With Love re-release this Christmas. And I really hope that radios are interested in her upon her return.
June 6, 201411 yr I think that Simon Cowell adores her but Syco did many mistakes about her promotion in the past. "My Hands" should be her third single from Echo. One of the most groundbreaking songs ever!! They killed her "Glassheart" era too. "Lovebirds shouldn't be a single. "Glassheart" should be her second single. Leona should fire all her management team two years ago. They were so amateurs.

Leona has already got rid of that management, She was with new management for "Christmas With Love" era, That's probably why she got so much more promo and One More Sleep hitting number 1 on iTunes etc. I think with her new management and new label she could really do well it all depends on the singles am hoping for a catchy radio friendly hit as first single. But I don't think we will get an album until 2015 now.

I was going to say what you did until I re-read it a couple times. :P Hopefully we'll get some proper info from Leona soon. She'll be at the Walking on Sunshine premiere on 11th June, so we should hopefully get a couple interviews or somethoing to give us more info.

June 11, 201411 yr Author Leona's first interview about moving label... Leona Lewis has admitted that it wasn't a difficult decision to leave Simon Cowell's record label. The singer recently moved from Sony imprint Syco - with whom she signed to following her win on The X Factor back in 2006 - to Universal label Island Records. "No, [it was]not difficult, really," Lewis told Digital Spy. "I've been with Sony for eight years. They've given me my launch pad and now it's time for me to make my own tracks in my own way. "For me, it's like leaving home. It's like, 'Bye, mum and dad. It's time to go out and live my own life'. I'm really being able to spread my wings, fly and make something for myself now." Speaking about her choice of new label, she added: "I went with Island because I like their creativeness and their individuality. "The artists they have are really allowed and enticed to express themselves freely. What more can you ask for a label? It's amazing." Read more: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a57...I#ixzz34MXezF9L Glad it wasn't a difficult decision for her, because it shouldn't be. She needed to move onto another label. Sounds like she should get more artistic control with her new album too.
June 12, 201411 yr I feel Syco will take a cash in opportunity and release a Greatest Hits set from her,she has enough material to do it and syco will be looking at the pound signs for the Christmas market.
