And as for The Beatles being overrated? I think only someone who knows incredibly little about the history of music, and the evolution of it, could say something so downright ridiculous.

 

Lily Allen is, for me, the current artist whose success is baffling... she simply CANNOT sing and her songs are puerile nonsense.

beyonce is hugely over rated,i like robbie williams but some of his stuff is hugly over rated,madonna at times is very over rated also

 

Most pop stars don't even write their own material, at least Robbie does. So if you think his music is overrated, at least he wrote it unlike 90% of today's pop acts -_-

Coldplay - When and how did they get so big? I just cannot understand the appeal of songs that sound the same as the last with dodgy vocals.

U2 - I hate how they are considered as charity workers before rock stars. Bono thinks he's god or something.

Madonna - What is so good with her? Yeah she can bend in half big whoop, she hasnt exactly got a voice on her has she? She's selling millions where as people with better voices arnt doing as good as her

aww i love beyonces, shes got brilliant vocals, great looks, good dancing, and a good entertainer..

It's not just about the voice with Madonna, for what she may lack in vocal ability she more than makes up for by always being original, fresh and exciting and never samey, and she always has a surprise up her sleeve.

If Madonna was judged on her vocal and musical abilities - she wouldn't have lasted as long as she has. She's got where she is today through cheap publicity stunts and the way she markets herself. In a way, I respect her for that - but I don't like her.

Pussycat Dolls, James Blunt, Madonna, Coldplay, Gorillaz, Dido, Sandi Thom, Dusbtin, Beyonce.

 

Just because the last two are seen as the elite American stars always in the tabloids doesn;t excuse the fact they make $h!t music and the majority of people buy their trash just because they're always in the papers - same for Paris but the opposite - people hate her and don't go out in truck loads to buy her album because of the whole media fiasco I despise Paris, Justin and Beyonce but I'd much rather listen to a couple of decent songs Paris sings than the other two :puke:

 

The media is the bloody chief culprit - such as radio stations playing Keane records every hour on the hour - every music channel bumming 'Because Of You' by Clarkson 600 times a day like they were doing *shivers*

 

Then you get the fans - yeh it's good to be a fan but to go on and on and on baout how good Shakira - she is a prime example atm is and blah blah. Yeh she's doing well - do we care?

Her musical abilities are why she's still around -_- Name another artist who has been able to reinvent themselves time and time again like Madonna? Even when it looks like she's on her way down she always comes back with something fresh and adds to a string of classic singles and albums. She's done a lot more for the music industry than most artists have and no female artist comes close to what she's done.

There was a time when I felt I was the only *NSYNC fan :lol: The Trousersnake could be around for a long time if he keeps continuing to do what he's doing I think.. with what I've heard so far he's experimenting with aspects of his music that some people don't consider, even his voice! It's always a risk when an artist tries to do something different and I think The Trousersnake had one of the best examples of recent years of it paying off with 'Sexyback'. Meanwhile I expect Dido and Blunt to just churn out the same old same old for years to come :zzz:

I like Shakira - I'm not slagging her down.

The thread asked for artists we think are overated and at this current point in time I say her - maul me if you want but it's my opinion :smoke:

 

This is what I mean - we can't make one negative comment towards her without al the fans gatecrashing it and chatting a load of c**p and it's not just Shakira either.
