They believe it or not put me off Clarkson for ages. :(

I tend to hate artists when everyone is all over them and they're in your face for more than needed - then when it's all died down I get back into them again :lol:

Im suprised and happy that noone so far thinks Kylie is overrated but yet a lot if you think Madonna is.

I do think madonna is over-rated. i knwo she has done a lot for music, but IMO I think it was more to do with her personality and the way she behaved, and less to do with her music bar a few songs

Her musical abilities are why she's still around -_- Name another artist who has been able to reinvent themselves time and time again like Madonna? Even when it looks like she's on her way down she always comes back with something fresh and adds to a string of classic singles and albums. She's done a lot more for the music industry than most artists have and no female artist comes close to what she's done.

 

You've just confirmed what I've said in the first place really - reinvention isn't anything to do with musical ability at all - her constant reinventions are just a publicity stunt. She may have physically made herself into some disco 80's queen for Confessions... but the music is more Jacques lu Cont than Madonna.

I agree with what you have said about madonna, she cannot sing and all she does is reinvent herself.. yet if it was a younger music artist and they couldn't sing and kept coming back re-inventing herself she wouldn't be accepted..just because an artist has been around longer it doesn't make them any better.

 

As for Ash's shakira banner it's great, it shows us the shakira that isn't shown to the uk or aus, maybe if the uk accepted other culture's everybody would have understood it and remembered when shakira dressed like this.

The madonna debate could be never ending. It depends on how you rate talent. She can't sing very well. So does that meen she's overrated? But she also has a head for business and knowing how to re-invent yourself (to success) is talent. So like I say, it depends on how you rate "talent" she came onto the scene with originality and became an icon. Is that success? Or is that just being at the right place and at the right time. You decide. I like Shakra, but that sig is scary. lol

Well she isn't huge in the uk and you hardly see her in the papers or magazines and radio doesn't play her much so she isn't that overrated in the uk.

Undoubtedly Kelly Clarkson. She's an ARTIST, not a GENRE. She wasn't the first to do pop-rock and she won't be the last. I used to like her, but can't stand her now as every bloody song needs to be compared to her these days :angry:
