September 6, 200618 yr I think the bottom line to all of this is that Robbie HAS sold more than Westlife worldwide, and that's all that really needs to be said.
September 6, 200618 yr The new list: 1 Coldplay 8.2m 2 Robbie 8m 3 Eminen 5.8m 4 Dido 5.7m 5 Westlife 5.5m
September 6, 200618 yr The new list: 1 Coldplay 8.2m 2 Robbie 8m 3 Eminen 5.8m 4 Dido 5.7m 5 Westlife 5.5m Well if we're going off that list, then Robbie is STILL more successful than Westlife, yes?
September 6, 200618 yr Music week report extract 2Jan06 .... Greatest Hits' cumulative sales rise to 1,818,787, while Williams' overall UK solo career sales are a phenomenal 14,887,790. +additional sales during 2006 -_-
September 6, 200618 yr So Westlife will easily be in Top 3 by the end of the year, confortably.... Yes but Robbie is STILL more successful?
September 6, 200618 yr The 21st century list quoted earlier ran from Jan2000 to 11 October 2005 (sales for albums released during this period -Hence the exclusion of Intensive Care) - excluding all Greatest Hits and Live albums regradless of release date.
September 6, 200618 yr In short, yes ^_^ I know, but I want Charis to have to pain himself by saying it.
September 6, 200618 yr Are the Robbie sales since he went solo or do they include sales with Take That?
September 7, 200618 yr So Westlife will easily be in Top 3 by the end of the year, confortably.... Just until Dido has her new album, since Westlife usually needs to release 3 albums to equal the sales of one of her albums... That´s not to mention internationally...
September 7, 200618 yr I am sorry char1sma, I do understand that you are a huge fan of Westlife, as I am of Rob, and its always a natural thing to defend the postion of your favourite man, band or group. But the end result is as it stands today, not in the future, is that Robbie is phenomenal in the UK and internationally. Westlife are hugely successful but just off the mark when up against Robbie. Rob's sales figures are based on his solo career alone and its debatable if you could include his Take That years sales, if you did then it would increase significantly on top of that again. :) Edited September 7, 200618 yr by Susie
September 7, 200618 yr Speaking as a fan of both Robbie and Westlife. Surely there can't be any doubt in anyone's mind that Robbie has been far more successful than Westlife. And he will continue to be I'm sure. Love them both though  Edited September 7, 200618 yr by val4jadan
September 7, 200618 yr The only way to settle the argument is to get the actual figures from the UK Chart people. It is so easy for someone to say "he/they have sold 3million copies" and that gets into the press and then it is taken as gospel. Simon Cowell's bigging up of Shayne Ward sales being a case in point.
September 7, 200618 yr Well I admitted it before that robbie is more successful in the albums but Westlife more sucessful in the singles.
September 7, 200618 yr Well I admitted it before that robbie is more successful in the albums but Westlife more sucessful in the singles. But this thread proves that that isnt true, charis :)
