Amazing strike no doubt, but I think I actually preferred Matt Phillips'. He beat a GK on his line from 40+ yards.

Rooney's was rather spectacular too!

Brilliant goal from Charlie Adam.

Chelsea have been rather poor recently but they managed to get another win! Hopefully this is them starting to wrap up the league now! Poor Liverpool look destined to finish fifth now! Two massive games and they bottled it.

I think Arsenal could finish second now actually!

Chelsea have taken United's crown as the team who can play the worst and still somehow scrape a win.

What a fantastic goal from Charlie Adam.

Definitely "Goal of the Season" for me.

Where would you rank Adam's goal between these:

David Beckham v Wimbledon 1996

Xabi Alonso v Luton/ Newcastle 2006

Paul Robinson v Watford 2007

Maynor Figueroa v Stoke 2009

Asmir Begovic v Southampton 2013

Looking ahead to today. You can expect another fiery derby between Sunderland and Newcastle. Probability of a sending off quite high there.

Tottenham should beat Burnley although I expect Burnley to give them a real fright in today's match.

Defoe almost overcome with emotion... Brilliant goal and completely out of context with the game

I always think with these long range goals from the halfway line - sure they're good but these's always an element of luck involved.

Ones like Defoe's are pure technique. Tho I bet he could not do that again!

Beckham's will always be #1 because every time a goal like this scored the first thing they say? How does it compare to Beckham's...

Quite true - but isn't it also down to the fact it was Beckham, and that goal basically sums up Man Utd's dominance of the 90s and Class of 92. I always thought it's more symbolism than a great goal (but of course it's still a great goal, just not the best as the media will tell you!).

Sort of, yes. However, Beckham was not very well known when he scored that goal.

Yeah that's sort of what I mean. If you asked people about a Beckham Premier League moment, I'm sure most people would mention that. I've no idea what the reaction was like at the time, but other goals of that ilk have been scored and none age as well even though they're just as good. Hence why I think it's aged well because of the symbolism of the goal.

It was only a few years into the Premier League era and, therefore, we were still not used to seeing highlights of every game. I must have been watching Sky's Soccer Saturday at the time, because I can remember a general sense of disbelief from the people who had seen it. I had to wait until MOTD before I could see the goal for myself. I think it has achieved its status for two main reasons. First, it was the first such goal to be scored with lots of television cameras present. Second, the scorer went on to become rather famous.

Three reasons why I thought Defoe's goal was the best this weekend

1. I'm a Sunderland fan

2. I can't stand Charlie Adam, he's easily my least favourite footballer in the Premiership.

3. But seriously, I've never even thought that Beckham's goal was that great - the long hoofer goals don't do it for me in the same way as snapshot volleys do.

I seem to be in a minority but I thought Zamora's was the best goal of the weekend...

Although I suppose I do have a soft spot for him that I don't hold for the others.

I agree with you actually, just for "the little look" (copyright James Rodriguez ) and the fact he was chased by a defender too. Also, its always satisfying when the ball hits the crossbar on the way in - makes a goal more emphatic.

Zamora's technique was incredible. I prefer a goal like his or Defoe's to a punt like Adam's because the thinking time is so much shorter.

Definitely. Enner Valencia's earlier this season has to be up there too.

Back when West Ham were bossing the league

To call Adam's goal a punt is harsh Soy Adrian! The technique involved is incredible, but goals like have the "fluke" stigma attached.

Adam's had enough practice though, Opta said since he became a Premier League player he's had three times as many attempts from his own half than anyone else.
