June 25, 201411 yr Great week for Sam with the album, 'Stay With Me' and 'Latch' doing very well. His launch has been expertly handled.
June 25, 201411 yr Do we think 'Latch' is likely to make the top 10? I think it should just about scrape in digitally and airplay is getting on board now. 'Happy' is on the way out of the top 10 and maybe 'Turn Down For What', so I have hope there'll be room for it. I knew 'Rude' would be #1 this week, hopefully not too long before it reaches the top officially. Not surprising to see it's only the 2nd reggae digital #1 (can't quite believe 'Beautiful Girls' got there ) but I wonder has there ever been a reggae Hot 100 #1 before?

June 25, 201411 yr BILLBOARD HOT DIGITAL SONGS - TOP 10 (billboard chart date 5th July 2014) LW TW ARTIST - TITLE - TW SALES 12 13 Calvin Harris - Summer - 91,000 (188,000) Calvins total seems very low, its been out in the US for weeks now and sold half of its total last week...
June 26, 201411 yr Author Calvins total seems very low, its been out in the US for weeks now and sold half of its total last week... yeah, the total is wrong, so I've removed it.
June 26, 201411 yr Not surprising to see it's only the 2nd reggae digital #1 (can't quite believe 'Beautiful Girls' got there ) but I wonder has there ever been a reggae Hot 100 #1 before? There's actually an article in Billboard with all the reggae no 1s on the Hot 100: http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/...-revives-reggae I'm pretty surprised they consider Maroon 5's One More Night reggae... if so then I think Ace of Base's The Sign should be too, or at the very last All That She Wants (although I guess that only got to #2 in the US).
June 26, 201411 yr Sean Paul - Get Busy Ini Kamoze - Here Comes The Hotstepper Blondie - The Tide Is High I thought Get Busy was diwali riddim?
June 26, 201411 yr 'West Coast' charted :o That is so nice to see, at least it finally got a second week on the Hot 100. I didn't think it would because of "complete my album" but maybe streaming is picking up for it. Nice for J.Lo too I guess  Better than 'I Luh Ya Papi' at least.
June 26, 201411 yr ** 37 Ed Sheeran - Afire Love (NEW) Bubbling Under ** 10 Ed Sheeran - Bloodstream ** 14 Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud ** 19 Ed Sheeran - Photograph Does anyone know what's happening here? Going by the figures in the 'Digital Songs' post I'd estimate a 10k gap between "Afire Love" and "Bloodstream". "Afire Love" is only listed as #30 on digital songs as well, what would cause such a large difference between that and the other instant grats officially? Is there some rule in play?

Same thing happened with Coldplay, but all their songs increased dramatically.
June 26, 201411 yr Billboard has a strange way of manipulating certain songs the week before album release. Same thing happened with Coldplay, but all their songs increased dramatically. Do you know anything about this or did you just notice illogical placements too? It honestly looks like a calculation error to me. I know 'Afire Love' had a longer selling/streaming period than the others but the extra time was minimal and as you can see didn't make a huge difference on digital songs. It looks like they've given 'Afire Love' a whole bunch of extra points for no good reason.
June 27, 201411 yr Author Do you know anything about this or did you just notice illogical placements too? It honestly looks like a calculation error to me. I know 'Afire Love' had a longer selling/streaming period than the others but the extra time was minimal and as you can see didn't make a huge difference on digital songs. It looks like they've given 'Afire Love' a whole bunch of extra points for no good reason. This article was the week Coldplay had odd climbs on the Hot 100. From Billboard: "Coldplay's' EDM-infused "A Sky Full of Stars," co-written and -produced by Avicii, vaults 43-10, marking the band's third top 10. "Speed of Sound" reached No. 8 in 2005 and "Viva La Vida" led the June 28, 2008, chart. Shooting "Stars" up the Hot 100? Sales; the song actually drops off Digital Songs (from No. 9), but its slide is owed to iTunes' customers who opted to "complete" their purchase of Coldplay's new album, "Ghost Stories," by upgrading their earlier purchases of "Stars" to a full album; the set will debut on next week's Billboard 200. Effectively, consumers who completed the album were returning the song, thus translating to its sales chart absence. For the purposes of the Hot 100, however, aggregate sales contribute to the song's overall point total." http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/609...ohn-legend-no-1 This chart was the week before Coldplay's album debuted on the Billboard 200, so there's no way 'Complete My Album' could have happened. That's supposed to happen the same week the album debuts on the chart. However they are coming up with that 'aggregate' figure is overinflating chart positions on the Hot 100, which is what must have happened to Ed Sheeran's "Afire Love".
June 27, 201411 yr I cannot think of a reason to justify their "complete my album" thing but it is clear that their sales estimations are way off. But it makes no sense. I'm sure iTunes has data on how many people use "complete my album" when that does happen. And I'm pretty sure stuff like 'Hold It Against Me' dropped off the digital chart when the album was released but didn't have "aggregate" sales made up for it.
