I really wanted Argentina to win this game!! They had many chances to score but they were very unlucky and the "ball always punishes" (a greek phrase). .Where was God??? I have only one song for Argentina tonight..

 

 

The stats will say they didn't have a shot on target, but they really should have scored. Higuain missed the sitter, and he should have held his run for the offside goal. Lost his head a little trying to make up for the miss. They had enough chances to score, but you don't score when you're on top, you will end up being punished.

Taking Higuain only really became a mistake when they had to go long at 1-0. Up until then they probably looked more dangerous without him.

He was a much better option that Palacio, who was utterly awful. I bet Argentine fans are ruing not taking Tevez.

I'm very proud of Argentina and I think we did great. Mascherano is such a hero! That's a player with guts, I think he was the best player of the tournament.

I'm happy for a Germany win. I just didn't get the hype with Argentina for any matches I watched with them, they just...weren't that good (obvs can't comment on the last few matches)

Was a good game and pleased Germany won even if I had bet on Argentina pre-tournament. They were the best team and they've been too good for too long to have not won anything.

 

It's frightening how good they could be though when you consider that Reus, Gundogan, Gomez, Keissling, the Bender twins, Schmelzer and Badstuber were all injured or not included.

I'm being daft, I'd forgotten he was cut from the provisional squad.

I didn't even realise he was still knocking about their squads, I remember him being called up a couple of years ago.

 

As for Tevez, I think he wasn't there because he's a prick and their forward line clicked as soon as he was dropped from it, although they had a poor World Cup. A bit like Nasri I suppose, on paper doesn't make sense that he's not there but just not work taking. It's not like Messi, Higuain, Aguero, Lavezzi and Palacio is a bad set of five forwards.
