shame about Bakermat missing out one week, but I never expected it to go top 15 in the first place so it's done really well

Thank you for doing my job for me every week zenon :kink:

'Classic' really needs to piss off. Damn streaming!!1!

Still only one song to lose more than one week in the top 40 (and that one song had plenty of weeks top 40 anyway so not a major loss). We're yet to see a song both gain and lose weeks from streaming - I suspect 'Blame It On Me' could be the first at some point down the line.

This week's update

Gains

(31) 41 Ariana Grande feat Iggy Azalea - Problem

(34) 43 Oliver Heldens feat Becky Hill - Overdrive

(38) 42 Charli XCX - Boom Clap

(40) 45 Will.i.am feat Cody Wise - It's My Birthday

Losses

(42) 34 Paolo Nutini - Iron Sky

(48) 39 Paloma Faith - Only Love Can Hurt Like This

(49) 40 Hozier - Take Me To Church

(53) 38 Kid Inc feat Usher and Tinashe - Body Language

Only Love Can Hurt Like This and Iron Sky become only the second and third singles after Sigma's Nobody To Love to have two weeks in the top 40 robbed from streaming.

Also Iron Sky becomes the very first single not be top 40 officially at all while having two weeks in the sales only one.

Sigma and Paloma always seem to be together for everything :D I'm quite surprised though that 'Nobody To Love' and 'Only Love Can Hurt Like This' have both lost two top 40 weeks to streaming, they seem like songs that would *gain* from it (certainly the former at least).

UGH at Hozier also missing the top 40 this week, 'Iron Sky' and 'Take Me To Church' are two of my favourite songs at the moment (along with 'Walking With Elephants'). Really hope they still have a chance to go top 40 :(

You're usually so positive about the effects of streaming! :o

It's rather gutting to see Hozier miss out, but I guess a few places doesn't make much of a difference. I don't really understand why the song's completely failing to catch fire, it has the makings of a huge hit and is getting an alright amount of exposure so I guess the British public just don't like it much :(

I don't like the effect streaming has all the time. The difference is I don't then go and say 'OMG STREAMING IS EVIL I HOPE EVERYONE WHO USES SPOTIFY DIES A PAINFUL DEATH' like about half of the rest of the forum does.

So 2 great songs, an OK one & a pretty awful one replace nothing special. Really don't want that Hozier song to enter feels like it's been around forever the last thing we need is a painfully long chart run for it.

This week's update

Gains

(34) 44 Ariana Grande feat Iggy Azalea - Problem

(36) 45 Oliver Heldens feat Becky Hill - Gecko (Overdrive)

(39) 43 Charli XCX - Boom Clap

(40) 41 Katy Perry - This Is How We Do

Losses

(42) 39 Paloma Faith - Only Love Can Hurt Like This

(46) 37 Kid Inc feat Usher and Tinashe - Body Language

(48) 40 Paolo Nutini - Iron Sky

(52) 38 Power Music Workout - All About That Bass

Paloma Faith and Paolo Nutini become the first artists to join the 'minus 3 club' with Iron Sky losing all three weeks it would have achieved in the official top 40 under the previous system.

For me, nothing particuarly outstanding missed out last week, Body Language my favourite of that bunch. Gecko & Boom Clap got another week each so I'm satisfied!

Promptly updating this for once this week :magic:

Gains:

(33) -- Meghan Trainor - All About That Bass

(37) 51 Ariana Grande feat. Iggy Azalea - Problem

(39) 53 Oliver Heldens and Becky Hill - Gecko (Overdrive)

(40) 43 Kiesza - Hideaway

Losses:

(43) 34 A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera - Say Something

(47) 29 Cilla Black - Anyone Who Had A Heart

(48) 38 Jamie T - Zombie

(59) 39 Redlight - 9TS (90s Baby)

'All About That Bass' very briefly becomes the first song to go top 40 overall but not on sales (as it wasn't on sale yet last week). Kiesza picks up a sixth 'extra' week in the top 40 to pull away from MKTO as the biggest beneficiary of streaming in terms of top 40 longevity.

Oddly 'Say Something' actually went up 1 on sales this week but still dropped out of the top 40 overall. OUCH at Redlight (biggest difference to date?) Very surprised at how high Cilla was in the sales chart!

Those gains for Problem and Gecko!
