One Republic album was released a little bit later somehow and has just appeared at #11 on iTunes. I'm sure 'Finest Selection' will be knocked out by 2am.

How did they pick such a busy week for album releases in August?

What Are You Waiting For went up to #36  but then down to #37

Has it reached its peak already?

I'm starting to think that unless this is top #150 on iTunes come Saturday midnight it could actually miss going top 10 on iTunes due to other releases. I do think Finest Selection will peak at around #06 now.

iTunes screwing them over in Ireland:

Finest selection quite far back in new releases, you have to swipe to find it. Albums at the front always do better. Shame they chose such a busy release week

Single is featured though:

NGU took until 7am in Ireland to get to 38, so WAYWF is doing somewhat better as it's already at #33

Finest Selection-#29

saying that, i read that singles are more dependent on iTunes and that albums are more dependent on physical sales?

All the new releases seem to have fallen, it's odd.

Ireland's Itunes chart is really inconsistent though. It's population is only 4 million and the fact that it's gone from #10 to #29 in an hour shows there's probably only a handful of sales between each number.
Ireland is still dominated by the physical market for albums, I think. So they need to do well physically, not iTunes.

IIRC at one point Tesco Mary's second album didn't reach the Top Ten on iTunes however still peaked at 1/2 in Ireland.

I'm not worrying yet. The first week sales for the album will be alright (at least more than Living For The Weekend anyway ) and it should get a high chart position. Yes it could probably have got to #1 if they bothered promoting but let's just be happy that it's going to get a decent peak (which aside from Headlines they've never had in the albums chart). We should worry about the week after when the album inevitably drops out of the top 40 and the girls aren't bothering to promote and we're left wondering if they'll ever release a single again.

I'm sad about What Are You Waiting For. I would understand if it was a lazy, half-arsed song and there was no effort put into it (like the final singles of The Wanted, JLS and Girls Aloud) but the song is a complete anthem. It's so loud and euophoric and definitely one of their best singles. I can understand why it's underperforming (due to the airplay and stuff) but not even top 1,500 two days before release? That's just horrific.
