Try calling a woman a whore in the street or in the workplace and see if that is taken as specially offensive to women or sexist.

It is offensive and unacceptable and there was no need for it.

If that's the attitude of moderators and the comment is still there, I will go elsewhere to discuss music.

The only person spouting utter rubbish is you: I do not care if someone takes it as offensive to women or sexist because someone else being incorrect is no problem of mine. Offensive yes, unacceptable perhaps but sexist it is not and I have given much stronger support for my side of the argument than you have. Just because an insult is gender-specific does not mean it is sexist and no amount of self-righteous shouting on your part will prove that incorrect.

In fairness to him, he was responding (in a single post) to Umi's post, not dragging it out unprompted. It's clear there's a big difference of opinion on the offensiveness of the word but as you've said, an apology has been made so there's no reason for it to continue from here.

 

(As an aside, you should really take your own advice about letting things go and stop bringing up the reaction to your comments in the Jessie J thread :P!)

Unnecessary. I enjoy reading Jimmy's posts, particularly in the Ella threads. I hope he isn't put off posting by this whole affair.

 

I do realise I'm sticking my nose in a bit here and it's not my intention to drag this out any further. I just thought Jimmy was being treated a little unfairly there. There were overreactions on both sides IMO.

I agree with Noah and I hope no-one is put off posting. Now this needs to be the end of the discussion as we are going around in circles and can we move on to discussing the music video and the song:

 

The music video for 'Creatures of the Night' has just been released and it is amazing! It's so wonderfully creative in how they've managed to create a whole new world that they call 'Janet's Wonderland' (according to her mailing list email) and it links in so well with the song being about Janet's insomnia which she talks about in the video I posted in the original post. Such a creative video, perfect for the song and for Janet! :wub:
