Adam jinxing things :cry: Nadine 2.0 launched with this floptastic single, iconically featured for 2 seconds in Nuhdeen's Fayt Fur Thus Unsayshuhbul Love video. The song missed the top 200 in the UK sadly but is no doubt nearing a million copies by now. If Chris didn't rate this at all, it would be top 10 :cry: #blamechris

 

I just re-listened to 'The Flood' for the first time in a couple of years, christ those vocals are PAINFUL. Also how can those lyrics not be about incontinence?

I'd guess because they all sound like they've had some effort put into them and each of the 3 singles at least contain some sort of hook.

'Beat Of My Drum' I will allow because it is superb but 'Lucky Day' is just screeching and 'Yo Yo' is unforgettable, boring, shit.

ANNOYINGLY just beating Sweetest High to the top 10 is will.i.am's single Heartbreaker, featuring backing vocals from Cheryl. I've never been that fond of the song really, even as a will fan, so it's a shame it's beaten Nuhdeen to the top 10. It became the first solo top 10 hit for any Girls Aloud member, reaching the top 5. Cheryl's appearance in the video (and song) came about during The Passions of Girls Aloud, where Cheryl wanted to learn street dancing, and she trained before appearing in this video at the end of it.

 

Whoever came up with the idea for 'Passions' is responsible for SO MANY THINGS.

9 7.17 Under the Sun

Under the Sun makes it to a respectable 9th. This hasn't ever been a huuuuge favourite of mine, I love the vibe to it but dislike how drowned out her voice is in the chorus due to those backing vocals. Was a good choice of 2nd single for A Million Lights and did rather well, peaking at #13 and selling over 150k. Would've preferred a Screw You release though :kink:

 

'Under The Sun' had sold more than 175k by the end of 2012, so it's probably sold over 180k+ now. I really do like it but it's a travesty that it sold more than 'Something New'. :(

8 7.33 Yo-Yo

Nicola's first single to drop out is the final single that was released from her album Cinderella's Eyes. The song spent a whopping 1 week in the top 200, at #111, mainly through the release of the physical CD. I've always liked the song a lot, very glad it's up this high. Adam you're a silly bean x

 

Glad that 3 Words and The Flood are out, such awful terrible songs, and her 2nd album was also crap, only exceptions Promise This, Amnesia and Yeah Yeah.

 

Actually like "Heartbreaker", only coz Cheryl on it, the original version I just weren't fussed on. Also surprised that Nadine's solo songs have done well, her first single and even Sweetest High are both awful.

 

I do like Under The Sun, but I do agree Screw You would have been a better single and a bigger hit.

Aly's wish is the rate's command, as Promise This drops out next at #7. The song was a #1 single for Cheryl in the UK following an X Factor performance, holding off Only Girl (In The World) by Rihanna, before that overtook and eventually sold about 600k more :kink: (probably similar to Rude and Crazy Stupid Love :lol:) Promise This seems to divide fans again, I quite like it but it's the weakest lead single of hers by far for me.

 

I just really do not get any appeal in that song. :( It sounds like a cheap demo in its production, the verses are clunky, the chorus a mess which doesn't even fit and is practically mumbled, and there's a random French chanting which doesn't even make any sense.

Just outside the top 5 is the third top 5 single from 3 Words. The video for this song featured Cheryl performing a Latin dance with then-future boyfriend Derek Hough, and was called "top notch" in reviews. The song has always been a favourite of mine, this position seems about right for it I think!
