They just released their first album in 5 years time and 13th overall on iTunes, after playing an Apple event earlier. The album is available for free ubtil the 13th of October

there's a fabulous booklet with it, produced by Danger Mouse and Ryan Tedder, and it's a varied and contemporary sounding album, a move away from traditional rock U2 sounds (again). For free? Now that's what I call generous pop stars!

Is it any good? Or should I not bother again?

Apparently it is being paid for by Apple, not U2.

iTunes kinda forced me to download this, so I did in the end :P It's not awful, albeit it's nothing we haven't heard before from them. It definitely won't convert anyone, but I like them a lot, so I was satisfied. It's not quite as...pretentious as their other work, I'll say that much.

 

The closing track, The Troubles is probably a highlight for me, really lovely song :wub:

I was walking along the road this morning and some turgid soft rock started playing out of my iPhone. How nice of U2 and Apple to force this rubbish on me.
