November 3, 201410 yr It even sounds like Calvin Harris didn't get his hand on the track! Yes, I agree. It's a typical Hurts track. It's really great how Calvin really seems to be trying to get their name recognised over here as they are on the continent.
November 3, 201410 yr I am absolutely disgusted by Open Wide. Lyrics especially. The usual misogynistic rent-a-rapper TRASH. Many songs are like that but this one just crosses the line. Actually it's THE worst 'song' I was so very unfortunate to listen to this year. Now excuse me I have to go and fill the bathtub with my vomit
November 3, 201410 yr I'll be buying this tomorrow. I stanned for Calvin back in his early I Created Disco days and then didn't buy anything else from him. Obviously his music has changed big time since then. If I expect 15 danceable, generic EDM thumpers and nothing more can I be reassured that I won't be disappointed?

Yes, bar a hideous track featuring Hurts.
November 3, 201410 yr  I like Hurts but I can't imagine how a collaboration between them and Calvin would sound. Quite laid back I suppose, the oddball in an album of otherwise uptempos.
November 3, 201410 yr "Ecstasy" is easily the worst thing on an otherwise stellar album. I wasn't a fan of "Under Control" either actually, though I am a fan of Hurts' solo material. Great mix of radio-friendly and club-friendly tracks on the album, much better than '18 Months'.
November 3, 201410 yr  I like Hurts but I can't imagine how a collaboration between them and Calvin would sound. Quite laid back I suppose, the oddball in an album of otherwise uptempos. I posted a link to it I think on the previous page I think. Ecstasy is basically a Hurts sounding record to my ears and not one of their best. If I didn't know it was a collaboration I wouldn't even know Calvin was involved. :D It certainly sounds nothing like Under Control.
November 4, 201410 yr  I like Hurts but I can't imagine how a collaboration between them and Calvin would sound. Quite laid back I suppose, the oddball in an album of otherwise uptempos. "under control" was released as the first single from the era and that's a collaboration between Hurts and Calvin Harris.
November 4, 201410 yr Don't know why they chose to go down this sort of road with Ecstasy. I was expecting another progressive house track from them.
November 4, 201410 yr The All About She collab sounds like a Clean Bandit track, really good song and album. Devastated it looks like it might not hit #1...
November 4, 201410 yr I enjoyed it, although certain tracks, including Summer (why was this released as the lead single?!), are fillers; others sound either similar or in some cases identical. As a dance album it serves its purpose: it's a floor filler and every song bar the Hurts collaboration makes you want to move.
November 5, 201410 yr 'Open Wide' is digusting. 'Pray to God' is amazing. I don't care about the rest at the moment, they're okay but nothing particularly special.
November 5, 201410 yr Outside has grown on me massively after not getting the appeal the first couple of listens. MILES better than I Need Your Love (although that one was more instant)
November 5, 201410 yr This is pretty much the only album I've anticipated all year and it's certainly not let me down, I don't think I agree with the 'Calvin on autopilot' comments because I feel like he's experimented with quite a couple of different sounds here but naturally as a DJ, there's definitely his signature sound coming through on songs like 'Together'. 'Outside' is superb, a definite improvement on I Need Your Love, the strong strings theme running through the instrumental is SO good. Also loving 'Open Wide' and 'Dollar Signs' - the breakdown on Dollar Signs in particular is HUGE. Definitely not disappointed, a lot of opportunity for singles here aswell.
November 6, 201410 yr Massive Calvin fan here! I loved both Ready For The Weekend and 18 Months and had high expectations of Motion. I disagree with the negative comments about Dollar Signs. The production is brilliant on it. Particularly in the verses. Tinashe does a great job on it also. I predict it will be the Thinking About You of the album (last track, my favourite non-single on first listen, completely obsessed with it once it gets a single release) for me, will be gutted if it doesn't see a single release. Instant grats Slow Acid, Outside and Open Wide are also really good. I was hesitant on Open Wide at first due to Big Sean but it has been growing pretty quickly. I likened it to Tinie's contribution to Drinking From The Bottle which is by far my least favourite Calvin single initially. Pray To God is also another standout. Blame is my absolute favourite on the album. The album as a whole was a bit disappointing after the last two albums but it was still highly enjoyable :D
November 6, 201410 yr welcome to the dance forum :D I'm one of the moderators here :P anyway Calvin Harris fans are great to have here! I haven't listened to the Ready for the Weekend album but I really love 18 Months and would agree that it's better than Motion.
November 10, 201410 yr if I were to control this era from now on i'd choose two more singles. outside would be followed by pray to god becase i just think it'd smash, has quite a lot of appeal to casual listeners i think and then i would follow that with love now, although its not one of my favourites it's almost a clean bandit clone and has similar quirks to their production within the instrumental too, the public seem to have taken to them so hopefully this would take off too. i think he could get another two T10s from this. if he wanted to push another single it'd have to be faith or dollar signs i think Edited November 10, 201410 yr by jsilv
November 10, 201410 yr I'd go with Pray to God followed by Faith or Together (preferably Faith), then Dollar Signs to finish the era.
