October 29, 201410 yr It's quite extraordinary that the estimate has gone from 700k a few weeks ago to perhaps reaching 1.2 million. Only a couple of days ago it was 900k+. She's slaying! :heart-old:
October 29, 201410 yr I wonder if Billboard count the $0.99 album sales in the Building Chart and they'll be removed from the final chart, a bit like the OCC with some of the midweek info?
October 29, 201410 yr Author I wonder if Billboard count the $0.99 album sales in the Building Chart and they'll be removed from the final chart, a bit like the OCC with some of the midweek info? Billboard Pricing Policy "Unit sales for Albums priced below $3.49 during their first four weeks of release will not be eligible for inclusion on the Billboard album charts and will not count towards sales data presented by Nielsen SoundScan." http://www.billboard.com/biz/articles/news...ovember-21-2011 If you read the billboard article (link above): "If a retailer offering a title for less than the above stated prices is a daily reporter to Nielsen SoundScan, units will be removed for charting purposes solely for the dates in which the title was priced less than the minimum." So if Microsoft is a daily reporter, Nielson Soundscan (should) have already discounted those sales. If they're a weekly reporter, then those sales haven't even been reported yet.
October 29, 201410 yr Wasn't Lady Gaga's huge 1 million copies of Born this way also contributed by 99p discounts on amazon
October 29, 201410 yr Wasn't Lady Gaga's huge 1 million copies of Born this way also contributed by 99p discounts on amazon  Yes. That's why the rule was created.
October 29, 201410 yr Why is it such a big drop from Red? :/ Was it the worse lead single?? Album sales are a lot worse than they were 2 years ago Anyway so happy with the Quenns success
October 29, 201410 yr Author BILLBOARD: Taylor Swift's '1989' Surging Toward 1.1 Million-Plus Debut Billboard (October 29th, 2014): "Taylor Swift's 1989 continues to rack up monster sales, as industry forecasters now say the album could sell over 1.1 million copies in its first week (ending Nov. 2). It's thus nearing the 1.21 million bow of her last album, 2012's Red (which was also the last release to sell a million copies in a week, according to Nielsen SoundScan). Sources say 1989 sold over 600,000 albums in its first day on sale and set a pre-order record in the U.S. iTunes Store, surpassing One Direction's 195,000 pre-order figure with last year's Midnight Memories. If 1989 sells as forecasted, it will become the biggest-selling album released in 2014 after only one week on sale, have the largest sales week by any album since Red, and make Swift the only act to earn three million-selling weeks." http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/...lion-plus-debut

But my query was about the Building Chart, not the final published chart.
October 30, 201410 yr Author But my query was about the Building Chart, not the final published chart. The article implied the following: - If Microsoft is a weekly reporter, Nielsen doesn't even know what the Microsoft sales are yet. - If Microsoft is a daily reporter, I would think Nielsen has already stripped out the 99c sales they are updating Billboard with. They don't seem as useless as the OCC
