I really like 'Mother and Father' out of that lot. The middle-8 "my mother died when i was 5..." section is so broken but very well done. Weirdly uplifting at times despite how dark and sad a song it is lol.

Starting with 'Forbidden Love'... the other 'Forbidden Love' to end it please? :P

Mother and father - I much prefer the live version on the reinvention tour.

Oh yes, her voice sounds a lot better without the gimmicks!

37 // White Heat // True Blue // 84pts.

Dedicated to actor James Cagney (who had died the year of True Blue's release) and incorporating quotations from his film, also titled White Heat, the song seems to address a lover and what to expect from her love if their relationship is to be serious. For me, True Blue's strong point is its singles, however 'White Heat' works well as an album track and is very catchy. I was never particularly keen on the extract at the beginning but it's growing!

36 // X-Static Process // American Life // 85pts.

A third American Life track - one that I rate higher than the previous two but still in the bottom half of my ranking of the whole album. It's just a bit too repetitive with the instrumental as it doesn't really progress. I particularly like the "Jesus Christ will you look at me" bit.

35 // Beautiful Killer // MDNA // 87pts.

This is more like it! It's no secret that MDNA wasn't up to Madonna standards, yet it still came with a few gems and for me, this is one of them. This was one of the Martin Solveig and I believe the tour performance sparked controversy due to the use of guns following a shooting in real life. I wish it was on the standard edition for two reasons: one, it deserves to be; two, I could have saved a couple of quid and not by the deluxe! :P

'Beautiful Killer' one of the songs i always go back to when I've had a few too many drinks, oops. :kink:

Very questionable lyrics, but that's what makes it so laughably good.

I can overlook the lyrics because of the production and the fact there's no glaring cliches! :P It's harder to do so with others from the album... *cough* Turn Up the Radio!

I only voted for white heat and it was low down for me.

Beautiful killer is overrated for me and I think it needed to be in the deluxe version .

When she performed this on the special Paris show she just used the revolver choreography.

34 // Promise to Try // Like a Prayer // 88pts.

One of the slower moments on Like a Prayer, 'Promise to Try' is certainly also one of the most personal and beautifully lyriced songs. Madonna sings to her child self to help her grieve for her mother. Whether you can personally relate or not, I think this song would stop anyone in their tracks and make them think. After really paying attention to the lyrics, I think I'd definitely rank this higher than I previously did.

33 // Intervention // American Life // 92pts.

The first American Life track I properly like! It's based on the relationship with then husband Guy Ritchie and shows that all the computer wizardry present on other tracks weren't necessary.

32 // Where's the Party? // True Blue // 95pts.

Another catchy pop-dance track that's typically True Blue, 'Where's the Party?' addresses the chaos of the music industry and the press - Madonna commented "I say 'Wait a minute, I'm supposed to be having a good time here, so where's the party?' It doesn't have to be this way. I can still enjoy life." I don't know what's up with the ending though?

I can see this is clearly not going to be a countdown very representative of MY FAVES. Oh well.

At least expecting the worst means you won't be disappointed, eh? :D

4/6 American life tracks gone already .

We know Regina loves the album - I'm betting she was mainly responsible for all tracks featuring here. I have to admit the best two tracks off this album are still to come (and I voted for both).

I'm guessing not many 90's or 80's tracks will feature high because her new / younger fans have predominantly voted in this thread (not that I'm in old git - I'm 29).

There may be a pleasant surprise in store in the Top 10 (it was for me at least!).

31 // Love Spent // MDNA // 95pts.

'Love Spent' always seemed to be a highlight on MDNA to everyone but me, however almost two years later, I can appreciate it a lot more than I did. It's certainly the more original of tracks to come from the album. Someone made an interesting point that its lyrics present Madonna on the other side of the situation that 'Material Girl' shows.

30 // Thief of Hearts // Erotica // 103pts.

This isn't one I'd listen to out of choice but it is a pleasant listen on Erotica all the same. I'd rather 'Waiting' or 'In This Life' were in place of 'Thief of Hearts' though.

29 // Like It or Not // Confessions on a Dance Floor // 106pts.

First of the EIGHT Confessions album tracks is its closer, 'Like It or Not'. I suppose it was kind of to be expected but I am sad that it's the first from the album to be out - one of my favourites! It is very different to the rest of the album so that may be why it isn't as liked, although it works great as a way to bring you back down after being sky high from the preceding tracks.

Omg my number 1 love spent and my number 3 like it or not are out !!!!

Damn lol

Never really paid (lol) much attention to it before but listening now and 'Love Spent' is sounding brilliant. I agree about the interesting comparison to 'Material Girl'.

Like the other two in that set too.

That's a great set and a bout a correct result for all of them, Love Spent would be properly AMAZING with better vox.
