Good song but definitely not one of my favourites, but then I find Haim to be quite crap (their voices do absolutely nothing for me) - shows a different side to Calvin though which is good.

Praying for 'Dollar Signs' next though, still in love with that breakdown

such a rubbishgai response :(

The singles from this era have literally gone good/bad/good/bad/good for me.

Under Control - I know it's nothing groundbreaking, but it's very strong for what it is and Theo's gorgeous vocals are a delight as well.

Summer - This is extremely lame and true Calvin on autopilot, not only that it was horribly overexposed last year so I hope to never hear this again in my life.

Blame - It's an anthem, the chorus is a total scream-along-at-the-top-of-your-lungs moment, plus the distorted guitar in the breakdown is like magic to my ears (it may coincidentally in part explain why 'Feel So Close' is still by far my favourite of his).

Outside - I did like this originally, but every time I hear it I dislike it more. It feels really cold and clinical, the synths grate on me and Ellie's vocal contribution really doesn't have a lot to it.

Pray To God - This is very different for Calvin, not just because of HAIM sprinkling their magic on it but for a Calvin production in itself. I love the piano and I can picture this also being a big radio hit. If this can get HAIM their first top 10 placing (which I can't see not happening), that should definitely set them up nicely to lead into their second album era.

Yes and the trance sounds pretty... boring.

So is "I need your love". Ellie Goulding's voice is less than ... inspiring.

Glad to be assured this is the next single. It's been getting airplay in the US so it's a lock after "Outside" smashes in the Western Hemisphere.

Also, I want to know who's more hated in Buzzjack: Ellie Goulding or Rita Ora?

I only heard this recently but I LOVE it and think it's perfect for showing a different side to Calvin (particularly after Outside, which though I love it, wasn't really new for him). Too much to hope that this can be his 'Titanium'? (on a smaller scale probably)
So glad this has been made into a single - it's an absolute smash waiting to happen!

Hmm, interesting comparison! I could actually imagine it having that potential and certainly a huge amount of longevity. Although I'd be more concerned with seeing the song do for HAIM's profile what 'Titanium' did for Sia, rather than wanting Calvin to get another monster hit.

I'd say Rita Ora. Though in terms of British females Jessie J easily wins most hated

YESSS at this inevitably getting a proper release though! should be another BIG top 5/10 for him

I don't quite agree, while 'I Need Your Love' is a generic track it isn't as mindless lyrically and like an obligatory sequel as 'Outside' is.

I was listening to this earlier and I was thinking how this could be within his top 3 sellers.

Maybe their could be a possibility that calvin might 'perform' this track with Haim at the Brits at the end of next month, which could really kick things off for this song.

Hoping that Dollar Signs will be a future single at least! Glad that he's gone with Pray To God though.

I really like this song. He has got it spot on with the single releases so far from Motion.
  • 4 weeks later...

This song was meh to me until this week. I think its brilliant.
