Hi Calum, some really great albums since I last visited.

FOUR is definitely their most consistent/excellent album for me. It really surprised me in a good way and is a really strong and mature album. Hoping for No Control/Where Do Broken Hearts Go?/Ready To Run/Stockholm Syndrome for the next single. Hope Night Changes is big this winter because it's a really beautiful ballad from them, not as good as Little Things for me but I think it's simplicity works well.

Sheezus was the exact comeback I wanted from her, such a shame it's commercially not done anywhere as well as her previous singles because it really deserves too. I agree with lots of your highlights, URL Badman was the smash hit that never was. Take My Place is definitely the strongest album track for me, it's just so personal and hard-hitting, I seem to be the only one who really loves it though.

Looking forward to the top 2 album reveal!

Glad 'FOUR' was a nice surprise for you! I think they'll go for the obvious and have 'Where Do Broken Hearts Go' as the third single, although I definitely don't disagree your other choices there would be good contenders! 'Stockholm Syndrome' is really overrated though, and I just get the impression it being a single would make it even more-so, haha. :(

Agreed, 'URL Badman' really should have been massive, could probably have done quite well as the second single, but oh well. I don't actually remember 'Take My Place' that much though, oops. :kink: Should probably go and listen again.

Thanks for commenting, Josh! :D

YES for Kylie and 1D!

I have an idea what the top 2 is going to be. :kink:

Some amazing albums. I was never expecting to love Lea Michele's album but it is amazing, especially Battlefield

Pixie's 3rd album is amazing and Champion is just  I really wish that got released as a single

And here we are! The Vamps make it to #2 with their STUNNING début album 'Meet The Vamps'! Having followed them since the very beginning, I'm so proud to see them at this stage, having massive chart hits, a wonderful album, sell-out tours, etc. I could go on all day. It was such a close call between the top 2, but there's just one album that was quite the tip of the iceberg this year. Anyway, let's talk about some of the songs from 'Meet The Vamps'. 'Somebody to You', I'd go as far to say, is one of my favourite songs of all time, connected with it in such a massive way when I first heard it and the Demi version is even better! All of the singles from the campaign have been incredible, and despite 'Oh Cecilia' being my least favourite of all five, the Shawn Mendes feature adds that something special to it. Although six would probably be a tad excessive, 'Girls on TV' really should have been one, but that can remain the GEM of an album track. <3 100% incredible album from four incredible boys that have done me proud this year *insert clapping gif*.

Ending the countdown is by far and away the best album of the year... '5 Seconds of Summer'! Loved them before 'She Looks So Perfect' because they were just the cutest things ever, and their music was really adorable, but 'She Looks So Perfect' made me LOVE LOVE LOVE them. The whole album is perfect from start to finish, excluding '18' and 'English Love Affair' which really are the only two songs on the album that aren't above 'wow'-standard, although the former I'm starting to appreciate a lot more and the latter gets better the more I listen. 'Amnesia' and 'Beside You' are just, ugh, two of the most beautiful songs I've heard, and 'Long Way Home' has such an infectious chorus, one I listen to a lot. The acoustic version of that though is just SUBLIME. *.* Basically everything on this album is worth a listen if you haven't done so already. And obviously everything on each of the single EPs is worth listening to also. 'Just Saying' is fabulous, 'Rejects' and 'Try Hard' are fabulous, 'Daylight' is PERFECT - should have been on the main album actually, and 'What I Like About You' is v good. And with this, it's now two years in a row a boy-band have claimed the top spot on the albums EOY - what with Union J's début having done so last year. Who will claim the crown next year? :o Anyway, off to give this another spin and sit and sob listening to 'Amnesia'. And fun trivia: the album hasn't left my top 3 since it entered the chart 22 weeks ago. :heehee:

You have 13 highlights from a 12 track standard album.

Sats level of stanning there!

25 Ed Sheeran - 'x' - 6-7-11-12-12 (5 weeks)

Both top two albums I've not heard, oops. Although, I do quite like both bands so that's good.

The Vamps are certainly the most consistent of any current boy band for me, all of their singles have been absolutely excellent pop tunes however they do tend to tire on me quite quickly only for me to love them again the month after. Last Night > Somebody To You > Can We Dance >> Oh Cecilia >>> Wild Heart for me but all of those are good. I totally agree that Girls On TV would've made a great single, it's unbelievably catchy.

5SOS are VERY hit and miss from me, I like two of their singles and hate the other two. Don't Stop is definitely their best for me, it's just an absolute tune and such a step up from SLSP, the video was nicely themed too, really gutted it never made #1. Good Girls is their other good single for me which is sadly their most floppy :( I don't usually like talky parts in songs but it's executed really well and the song is great. The video is awful though so let's forget about that. SLSP really is awful, quite childish and just not my thing sadly..shame it's their only #1. And their other awful single is Amnesia, I just don't get it, it's an odd ballad and really doesn't work for me :(

Clean Bandit

Before we move on to the main event that you're all waiting for, the top 250 songs of the year, first let's have a look at some of the best and most talented artists to have emerged this year, or to have continued doing what they're doing this year, as well as two tips for 2015 - people who I reckon are going to have a good time of it in the world of music. And first up at #10 are Clean Bandit - they smashed the chart for weeks on end with their single 'Rather Be' which featured vocals by Jess Glynne. It really is one of the most feel-good, catchy and adorable songs of the year. Then we have the likes of 'Extraordinary', 'Mozart's House' and 'Telephone Banking'. All gems. As I've already said, can't see them ever coming close to repeating the success they had with 'Rather Be', or making another song like it, but I'm looking forward to whatever's next.

Shawn Mendes

Next up at #9 is one of the cutest and sexiest of people to emerge this year in the form of Viner, singer and songwriter Shawn Mendes! He's a lot more tolerable than other Viners we are aware of (not even going to mention the name because it's vile x), and his voice is gorgeous. He's already lent his vocals to The Vamps by featuring on the single version of 'Oh Cecilia (Breaking My Heart)', and he was gorgeous in the video as well. His own songs 'Life of the Party' and 'Something Big' are both amazing, and I certainly can't wait for his début album, whenever we're going to get that (hopefully not too late next year). He needs to collaborate with some other cuties on the album, maybe like Austin. :kink: (aside: Cam >>> Shawn)

Shawn Mendes is pretty decent actually, Show You was my favourite EP track because I loved the bridge and the whistling breakdown parts. Life of the Party was a bit boring for me but Something Big is definitely back on track for me, hoping it can actually be a chart hit.

Clean Bandit are also very good, I think Up Again and Heart on Fire were the best album tracks for me but I think the singles were very well chosen. Real Love is their best personally :o

Tinashe

One of the surprises of the year here, and at #8 is Tinashe. I've probably mentioned this many times already, but I really didn't expect to like her as much as I do. '2 On' was a major moment, and she caught my attention right there, and then 'Aquarius' came along - an album full of several gems. Her voice is indisputably beautiful, and even if it's not happened just yet, I can see her becoming really big if she keeps going the way she is! She's already quite a name on here, and hopefully it reaches far, far beyond that. The likes of 'Bated Breath', 'Wildfire' and 'All Hands on Deck' just show that a voice like this simply can't go unrecognised.

Ella Eyre

It's a shame she wasn't on the receiving end of the BRITs Critics' Choice win, but I wouldn't go as far to say I wish she'd won it instead of Sam Smith because he's had a wonderful year and we've gotten some fabulous singles out of it, but she was a worthy contender. Ella's had some killer singles but doesn't seem to be smashing it at all like she should be. The likes of 'If I Go' and 'Comeback' are phenomenal and really should have been at the top end of the chart, not just floating along at the bottom end and then drowning. But anyway, I hope there's more of the 'Comeback' ilk on her début album 'Feline' when it drops next year, and no doubt it's going to be amazing!
