#29 BEST: Taylor Swift - "Blank Space"

2nd Single, 1989

US Peak: #1, UK Peak: #3

Oh my God. This track is probably the best post-release track that's ever impacted my life. It wasn't just a satirical jab at the media, it was completely relatable to those with a high school rival: namely, me. Taylor really hit all the sweet spots with promoting this track. First a kick-ass video (with a set that eventually burned down). Second, killer performances (see the American Music Awards). Then she topped Billboard for a while, and now it looks like she'll never stop.

#29 WORST: Nicole Scherzinger - "On The Rocks"

3rd Single, Big Fat Lie

UK Peak: #90

So this was such a tiring and boring song that most people didn't bother to care for it. Go figure. In my opinion, Nicole could have done so much better with this album. With subpar singles, she really isn't going to get that much success.

#28 BEST: Charli XCX - "Boom Clap"

Lead Single, Sucker

US Peak: #8, UK Peak: #6

I can't really think of a way for someone to break out into the music scene than how Charli XCX did it. She was pretty subtle with "I Love It", then came hard with "Fancy", and by the time this came, everyone pretty much knew her name. It also helped that this was in The Fault In Our Stars (a.k.a. one of my favorite movies of the year). Anyway, I thought Charli killed it this year with kick-ass singles and a huge feature (which is still to come *spoiler alert*), and I can't wait to see what else she has in store for the world.

#28 WORST: Chase Rice - "Ready Set Roll"

Lead Single, Ignite The Night

US Peak: #54

I am seriously not amused with these country wannabe heartthrobs coming out the wazoo. Like what even is this?

#27 BEST: Sia - "Chandelier"

Lead Single, 1000 Forms Of Fear

US Peak: #8, UK Peak: #6

Take a comeback solo single, add in a Dance Moms star, and what do you get? One of the best videos birthed this decade so far. While I have to admit that "Chandelier" seems a bit music-video loaded and it pretty much received all its fame from Maddie Ziegler's fabulous dancing rather than Sia's vocals, it's a pretty remarkable song by itself. It received just about the same peaks as "Boom Clap" lol.

#27 WORST: Tom Odell - "Real Love"

Charity Single

UK Peak: #7

I am going to admit that I am probably the only person who thinks Tom Odell is extremely overrated. This song is BORING TO THE MAX.

#26 BEST: Alesso f/Tove Lo - "Heroes (We Could Be)"

Non-album Single

US Peak: #31, UK Peak: #6

I was so surprised when this came on the radio, as I thought he wasn't really a mainstream person, but this ended up becoming the little uplifting house track that could, and Tove Lo can sing her heart out. You can see that in a later track coming up. Alesso is such a amazing producer, and it really shows with this track. It's club DJ fodder, and I'm LOVEING IT.

#26 WORST: Joe Nichols - "Yeah"

2nd Single, Crickets

UK Peak: #17

Before I shade this, I will say something: I did not know this guy was 38, so I'll give him props for longevity. But to stoop down to the bro country level, like UGH. I'm SO TIRED of this phase! Like us Americans, raise your hand if you've heard some kind of exposure dealing with bro country at least once a day.

"Yeah" is so basic it hurts but would've sounded okay if there was an actual attempt at lyrics. I couldn't get into "Ready Set Roll" or "Sun Daze" either. Ready for a sis country phase tbh. Or even 'mom country' if it brings back Shania and Faith Hill.

That said, I'm getting nervous that "Drunk On A Plane" might be on the worst list

#25 BEST: 5 Seconds Of Summer - "Good Girls"

4th Single, 5 Seconds Of Summer

US Peak: #34, UK Peak: #19

The one standout instant grat from the album that I seriously got into was released in June, but I had to wait nearly 5 months for the single announcement? Geez. Anyway, this song is AMAZING.   It was one of the songs that got me excited for the album and although it really cost them their momentum (aside from it sounding like "She Looks So Perfect" part 2, not like there's anything wrong with it, they should just keep doing them), it was both a surprise and a delight for me to enjoy this as a proper single. This should have been pushed to the US, but instead they went right ahead and promoted "What I Like About You".

Why they did that is still a mystery to me.

#25 WORST: Gareth Malone's All Star Choir - "Wake Me Up"

Children In Need Single

UK Peak: #1

Once again, I know it's for charity, but you can only milk a song so much until it becomes dry and tasteless, and when this got to #1 at the same time Tom Odell's thing charted, I was mortified.

#24 BEST: Iggy Azalea f/Rita Ora - "Black Widow"

5th Single, The New Classic/Reclassified

US Peak: #3, UK Peak: #4

It was a one-two punch for Iggy Azalea in lead singles after a smashing performance with "Fancy", and this was the best single choice IMO. It was a new song for most of the general public (or at least those who wouldn't be fooled by a "Work" re-release), and Rita also killed it here. The production is very "Dark Horse", but even Katy would be jealous of this.

#24 WORST: Meridian Dan f/Big H & JME - "German Whip"

Lead Single, I Am London

UK Peak: #13

This sounds like Lethal Bizzle trying to make like he got into a DJ Fresh song but it kinda backfired and yeah.

#23 BEST: Kim Cesarion - "Undressed"

Lead Single, Undressed

US Peak: #113

I think this track is a godsend. I wasn't too keen on it when this first started hitting Australian airwaves, but something made me click with it when I heard this in the country's biggest year-to-date hits back in the summer. Then it started hitting US airwaves, and I simply became obsessed with the song, so much that I became one of the surprise #1's for my personal chart. The falsettos just give me LIFE.

#23 WORST: George Ezra - "Blame It On Me"

2nd Single, Wanted On Voyage

UK Peak: #6

*inserts joke about George Ezra sounding like a 40-year-old man*

All jokes aside (and his voice isn't the problem, "Cassy O'" is actually his best), it sounds pretty boring and more or less triple A alternative chart fodder.

#22 BEST: Meghan Trainor - "All About That Bass"

Lead Single, Title

US Peak: #1, UK Peak: #1

Catchy hook, check. Retro revival sound, check. Positively reinforcing song about loving yourself, check. This booming Massachusetts native captured hearts worldwide and there was a period of time when the entire planet was "all about that bass". From self-producing and self-releasing three albums to having one of the biggest songs of the decade? I can tell that she's going to plaster herself with the legends.

#29 WORST: Union J - "You Got It All"

2nd Single, You Got It All - The Album

UK Peak: #2

A.k.a the beginning of the end for them. Snoozefest, uninteresting, pretty floppy chart run, it was no surprise that they got dropped. #ByeFelicia.

#21 BEST: The Vamps - "Wild Heart"

2nd Single, Meet The Vamps

UK Peak: #3

If I were to compare The Vamps' singles to the Avengers, this would probably be the Thor to the Captain Anerica that is "Can We Dance". Completely overshadows by its predecessor, this managed some pretty fantastic sales for a #3 peaker, and it's probably by far their catchiest song. Ever since this single, they've been pretty much hit-and-miss, but this was a true bullseye. I just wish people didn't put so much focus on Brad. He's kinda annoying.

Calum, this better be high up on your rate.

#21 WORST: Dierks Bentley - "Drunk On A Plane"

3rd Single, Riser as in ACTUAL Riser :jameela:

UK Peak: #27

I'm sorry, Riser, but the dragging of the grating Billboard virus that is bro country. If I wanted a more tolerable way to listen to getting drunk on a plane, I'D WATCH BRIDESMAIDS.

At least you made #21!

Edited by Cody Slayberry

I'm not even mad! Just seeing Dierks in another end of year thread besides mine is beautiful. And Drunk On A Plane is bro country done right, so ^_^.

The 20 worst better be REALLY BAD. :P

#20 BEST: Neon Jungle - "Braveheart"

2nd Single, Welcome To The Jumgle

UK Peak: #4

Only Neon Jungle can help me get into another song that is completely unrelated to this, aside from the fact that it sounds kinda like it. I get Showtek vibes from the production, which is a good thing for the girls. The song is energetic, euphoric, insanely catchy, and possibly the best club track I've heard that's not by a giant EDM artist.

#20 WORST: Brantley Gilbert f/T.I. - "Bottoms Up" (remix)

Lead Single, Just As I Am

US Peak: #20

Remix Audio: http://m.country925.com/onair/electric-bar...ms-up-12745588/

There is one thing I hate more than bro country: bro country with a rent-a-rapper. I would like a scientific explanation of why the hell bro country artists collaborate with such rappers. It's ridiculous.
