December 29, 201410 yr Tove Lo twice  I'm starting to stan for this girl, Queen of The Clouds is so good!
January 1, 201510 yr Author Being surprisingly without hangover on New Year's Day means only one thing...doing another section of my EOY! 71. Bean - Rollercoaster 72. Sophie Ellis-Bextor - 13 Little Dolls 73. Taylor Swift - Clean 74. Robyn & Royksopp - Do It Again 75. Charli XCX - Break The Rules 76. Walk The Moon - Shut Up And Dance 77. Oh, Be Clever - Next 2 U 78. The Saturdays - What Are You Waiting For? 79. Andras Kallay-Saunders - Running 80. Neon Jungle - Future X Girl Just call me Madge because this section is "#unapologetic". BuzzJack's favourite megaflops The Saturdays make a shock entry at 78, several of my random BJSC faves from Bean, Oh Be Clever and Walk The Moon are peppered throughout and to top it all off, two album tracks from two of this year's top pop albums in Future X Girl and the much maligned and underrated album closer from 1989, 'Clean'.
January 1, 201510 yr Walk The Moon and La Fischer *.* Much love for your love for The Common Linnets' opus of an album too.
January 1, 201510 yr Author Well, I've put this off long enough. Time to reveal what I have deemed to be the best album of 2014, first off, the honourable runner up! .... ... 2. La Roux - Trouble In Paradise ?v=nR7-zG0dG50 This is an excellent album, only brought down in quality by the tracks being in short supply. You can tell on some tracks that they were written/produced a year or two ago ('Uptight Downtown' the most obvious one here being ostensibly about the London Riots in 2011) but rather than make the record sound dated they add a nice not-quite-retro-but-still-nostalgic feel. So many of the hooks sound like they've been lifted from a premium slice of indie pop circa 2007 (which can be a good thing if you let it) such as the brilliantly chirpy 'Sexotheque'. As fabulous as this album is though, only one album can take the crown...
January 1, 201510 yr Author 1. Taylor Swift - 1989 ?v=_BlGS6Vaa8s 1989's victory over Trouble In Paradise is indicative of what you should expect in a LexC countdown. I can appreciate, enjoy and love high brow (ish), obscure (ish) indie (ish) music but hen push comes to shove, the pop hooks win out in the end. And you can scoff all you want but remove Taylor's name and the baggage that it carries to some people and there's an absolute opus of a pop album. There's not only the obvious big pop stompers such as Shake It Off, Style and How You Get The Girl but 1989 has it's darker and more sombre moments like Wildest Dreams and album closer Clean (which is amazing, hush pls). Put simply, 1989 is an excellent album that has the potential to be both a career but also a decade defining album for Taylor Swift and the 2010s. Brava!
January 1, 201510 yr YESSSSS 1989!!! So glad to see it doing so well in many EOY charts, it was #6 in mine and it feels weirdly low but also justified considering what beat it (Vamps/Cheryl/Lily/1D/Hunter)
January 1, 201510 yr Author So, the Top 10 Albums in Full: 1. Taylor Swift - 1989 2. La Roux - Trouble In Paradise 3. The Common Linnets - The Common Linnets 4. Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Wanderlust 5. Tinashe - Aquarius 6. Ella Henderson - Chapter One 7. Cher Lloyd - Sorry I'm Late 8. Ariana Grande - My Everything 9. Neon Jungle - Welcome To The Jungle 10. Sam Smith - In The Lonely Hour Stay Tuned for the top 70 singles!
January 3, 201510 yr Author 61. Oliver Keldens - Gecko (feat. Becky Hill) 62. Katy Perry - Birthday 63. The Pierces - Kings 64. Indiana - Solo Dancing 65. Olly Murs - Wrapped Up 66. Professor Green - Lullaby (feat. Tori Kelly) 67. The Chainsmokers - #SELFIE 68. The Common Linnets - Broken But Home 69. VERITE - Strange Enough 70. Aarzemnieki - Cake To Bake I'm naming this section the "Objectionable Inclusions" section. From chirpy Latvian ditty 'Cake To Bake' to the pulsating dance track 'Gecko' via satirical masterpiece '#SELFIE' and darkpop extroadinaire Indiana's 'Solo Dancing' - there's bound to be SOMETHING here you find distasteful/crude/a bit shit/all of the above. I, as usual, make NO apologies.
January 4, 201510 yr I would actually object to 'Wrapped Up'. 'Lullaby', '#Selfie', and 'Strange Enough' are all beauts!
January 5, 201510 yr Author 51. Kiesza - Hideaway 52. Dami Im - Super Love 53. Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Love Is A Camera 54. Tove Lo - Over 55. Nicki Minaj - Anaconda 56. Palmoa Faith - Only Love Can Hurt Like Thus 57. La Roux - Cruel Sexuality 58. Indila - Ego 59. Leah McFall feat. Will.I.Am - Home 60. Helena Paparizou - Survivor SuperPop activate! We have all your favourite kinds of pop in this section, EuroPop (Survivor), FrancoPop (Ego), DancePop (Hideaway), TrashPop (anaconda), IndiePop (Over), FlopPop (Home)... The list is truly exhaustive!
January 8, 201510 yr Author And with that we strive bravely on into the top 50 46. Neon Jungle - Louder 47. Christina Perri - Human 48. Tuomas Holopainen - The Last Sled 49. Sigma ft Paloma Faith - Changing 50. Iggy Azaelia ft Rita Ora - Black Widow Three top quality power ballad occupy this section from Neon Jungle (forever destined to be 'that mildly popular girlband from 2014'), Christina Perri and a random Zechonian BJSC entry. Add to that the latest catalyst for Paloma Faith's aura of self satisfaction and the duet between Igloo Australia and Rita Oral. Don't say my tastes aren't ecclectic!
January 8, 201510 yr The likes of Leah McFall and Kiesza beating H Papz is quite frankly, unacceptable.
January 8, 201510 yr 'random Zechonian BJSC entry' - done only by the greatest musical genius of our times Lex  Seriously, have you heard 'A Lifetime of Adventure' by him as well? Just about outdoes 'The Last Sled' for me - but then both are in my top 15 of the year. All this stuff is rather good though, keep it up.
January 8, 201510 yr Author 41. Tove Lo - Timebomb 42. Molly Sanden - Freak 43. A Great Big World & Christina Aquilera - Say Something 44. 3LAU - How You Love Me 45. RAM & Susana - RAMelia (Tribute To Amelia) Yeah, I'm quite a fan of a lot of these slowies. From Molly's Sanna-adjacent scandi ballad and 'Say Something' - a song accompanied by a video of the saddest thing ever, a thin Christina Aquilera. In the 'powered slowie' stakes we have Trance revival realness from Rontvia's BJSC winner and Tove Lo's Timebomb (I feel like there's a cheap joke for me to make here but it's not coming, soz). Also Jay's sole BJSC hit of 2014 is the lone fast song in this section. Woo diversity!
January 9, 201510 yr I feel honoured that my entry is rather high up your list, Lex! In fact I can reveal it's a lot higher than I've placed it in my own EOY list, ha! I rather like 'Say Something' from that section too.
January 11, 201510 yr Author 36. Ella Eyre - Comeback 37. Sia - Big Girls Cry 38. Tinashe - 2 On 39. Cash Cash ft Bebe Rexah - Take Me Home 40. Mr Kitty - Destroy Me This section comes to you straight out of left field. Here we find Sia's best album track from '1000 Forms of Fear', Mr Kitty's Dark but boppy number, one of the best examples of derrivative EDM from Cash Cash, Ella Eyre's retro (kinda) minor hit and the current 'white gays who think they're black women' anthem in 2 On (maybe soon to become a super smash if there's any justice).
January 14, 201510 yr Author 31. RuPaul - Sissy That Walk 32. Indilia - Derniere Danse 33. The Magician feat. Years & Years - Sunlight 34. Ella Henderson - Empire 35. Ariana Grande ft Iggy Azaelia - Problem This section is sponsored, obviously, to this year's BJSC smashas all the way to the contoversial winner 'Sissy That Walk' and v hip v happenin minor hit 'Sunlight'. Also here is Ella Henderson's ode to colonial power and Ariana's bringing back of THA SAX *.*
January 16, 201510 yr Author Are y'all ready for a some 30-21 all in one post realness? You are? Excellent! 21. La Roux - Let Me Down Gently 22. Taylor Swift - Out Of The Words 23. Conchita Wurst - Rise Like A Phoenix 24. Christina Perri - Human 25. Lindsey Stirling ft Izzy Hale - Shatter Me 26. Ariana Grande - Break Free 27. Molly - Children Of The Universe 28. Sam Smith - Stay With Me 29. Pitbull ft Ke$ha - Timber 30. Idina Menzel - Let It Go This section is wall to wall with Gay Anthems from the slow theatrical numbers of Let It Go and Rise Like A Phoenix via the languid Stay With Me and ending up at the kickass overthrowing adversity banger of Break Free. Also here is everybody's favourite eurovision disappointment Molly, CountryDance mish mash Timber, the Violin stylings of Lindsey Stirling and La Roux's fragile anthem Let Me Down Gently. Yes guys, it's looking increasingly likely that I WILL be finishing this EOY! Don't give up on me now!
January 16, 201510 yr Approximately half of the tracks in that section are tracks of life Lex! http://24.media.tumblr.com/809062b04de704a42e6b80f8c552998c/tumblr_n4jh1yN2e11smzom0o2_400.gif so amazing
