It certainly will. January is notoriously quiet for new releases in the chart so why more artists don't take advantage of this lull remains a mystery. Seeing how well Pitbull & Clean Bandit did in the UK with January releases this year may encourage other artists to follow suit. Hopefully anyway!

Alesso's "Heroes" has already been around for so long, there's no further harm pushing it back into 2015 and turning it into a high-peaker. Could be a contender for #1 if they don't bring "Uptown Funk" forward a week actually - though gift card effect will undoubtedly benefit the likes of Ed Sheeran and Olly Murs and therefore pose a risk.

I was surprised they had that release date for Albatraoz in the first place, judging from its success in Europe and now Australia (where it is top 3 on itunes) I can see it being a #1 contender to be honest (or at least top 3).

 

It'll be interesting to see what they do with Uptown Funk, the label would be silly to leave it until the 11th, they need to bring it forward AT LEAST a week or two, though it'll be #1 regardless.
