Awful news. Jameela made the show bearable to listen to again after over half a decade of JKs, Joels and - bleuggh - Reggies. I'm guessing her open hatred of certain acts has cost her her renewed contract. More fool Radio 1. Hopefully Radio 2 will give her a slot (although I doubt it).

Shame that Jameela has left the chart show she always brought fun to the chart :( However I wish her good luck with the new show (I read she is staying is that correct?) and travelling etc and Clara is a good presenter so cant wait to see what she will bring to the chart. I think its good to give the chart show to someone who is fairly new to presenting

A flexible one according to the article - one she can have regularly but be able to take time off from whenever she wants to travel!

As much as I like Clara Amfo, I would still prefer them to bring back Bruno Brookes and Mark Goodier

I'm sure Clara will do a great job, never heard of her before today but she's obviously been picked for a reason so I'm hoping she's great. Beating Jameela will be very tough though :P

can we please state where the plans for future jammela countdowns lie? in hindsight do you not regret splitting it into two parts or more preferably not doing it at all?

I will miss Jameela too but Clara will do a good job. I remember her from hosting the official chart on mtv. So glad its her from 1xtra taking over and not Charlie Sloth. Sarah-Jane Crawford would have been a perfect host. In all honesty, Scott Mills should take over

Not gonna lie having Charlie Sloth would be funny....for the first few weeks then I would get irritated

I've kinda forgotten about the current one oops. Will finish that before Xmas. Sadly part 2 doesn't look like it will happen as it's unlikely we'll make it to 40 before she leaves the chart :cry:

Jameela, whilst not awful, is very overrated on here. She is repetitive and uninterested in the chart. Why is this a loss? Just because some have lol moments over her being awful at her job? In any other profession she'd receive complaints rather than praise for the standard of job she does.

I doubt she'd be hosting the chart at all if she were uninterested by it - she doesn't always get her facts right but most of the public won't know this. She has a great charm to her and a fantastic sense of humour which makes her great listening.

I never said she was uninterested, just that she seems that way. Besides which, with a big enough pay cheque waved under her nose, I doubt whether it mattered she was interested.

 

And some of us just can't warm to her sense of humour and it grates.

Jameela was quite likable and, sometimes, seemed genuinely passionate about some of the chart music rather than herself and ofc. I did love her little trademark repetition, that said, she was far from the best presenter and her passion/enthusiasm seemed to be weakening lately (understandable I guess reading that article). I found that the silliness also sometimes got in the way of actually it being a music show so I'd welcome new blood at this stage. (*vampire laugh*)

 

I don't know anything about Clara but her being on Radio 1Xtra and at quite an antisocial timespace makes me hopeful that she'll have some underground interests and bring some more passion for music in general to the table (whether in the charts or not frankly).

 

I just think the show needs a revamp though, it's been so stale and dead since the idea of watching live online went down the pan and I hope with a new presenter that the chart undergoes a format change, preferably focusing a bit outside of the top 40/future hits/tips for the future or even a bigger focus on the album chart rather than more competitions/interviews and playing the same tracks week after week.

This is like a new president being elected for the chart forum :o i grew to really warm to Jameela so sad to see she's leaving, but yay for phreshness etc.

Please no. The Top 40 chart show should be that - the Top 40. By all means focus on the 75-41 section maybe in the half hour before the chart, and have a separate albums segment, but please leave the basics of the Top 40 show alone.
