Actually, streaming is changing the way it works.

Apparently from next month a worldwide Friday release date is being instated.

 

The inclusion of streaming here has led to the general public moving more towards services such as Spotify, which rely heavily on radio play. This therefore leaves eliminates "frontloaded" artists such as Britney and The Saturdays.

I don't see how it will teach them any lesson, the fact is she'll struggle to get a hit with anything these days and I'm sure they're acutely aware of that.

She needs airplay, she needs to release her music on Spotify straight away and she needs to God damn promote. If not, she won't ever get a Top 20 hit again.
