Prayer In C, Faded, Prom Night, that's one of the best sections in here. So many other lovely songs as well, including, but not limited to: Gimme Chocolate!!, Derniere Danse, Sick Beat, Calm After The Storm, I Got Knocked Down (But I'll Get Up), flawless as ever.

Now at the halfway point finally :magic: Jamie xx makes his second appearance here with "Sleep Sound", while St. Vincent and Perfume Genius make their first with "Prince Johnny" and "Grid" respectively. I've been keeping my eye on a few of Oliver Nelson's remixes this year, none better than his captivating nu-disco mix of "In Your Bed" by Ariana & The Rose, a top 5 hit in Unknown Pleasures this year. Finally Duke Dumont followed up Need U (100%) just under a year later, with another #1 hit "I Got U"

kicking off the top 50 with the first of Liars' two appearances, "Mask Maker" was an instant standout from their album Mess with its low-pitched automated voice uttering sexual commands at the beginning, before pummelling you with a thudding electronic beat.

always got a taste for some fun & quirky pop, and Femme's "Fever Boy" grabbed me pretty quickly. That chorus is just great *.* i seem to vaguely remember entering this in a song contest of some sort this year? probably just imagining things tho lol.

Indiana scored a surprise chart breakthrough with "Solo Dancing" this year. Saying that though it feels like her most catchy and accessible single to date, and has held up pretty well for me

"Wonderland", the title track from his latest album, was another of bouncy & energetic from ceo, following lead single "Whorehouse" (which also appears in this countdown, much later on~)

and at #46 it's PC Music producer A.G. Cook with "Keri Baby", a fine example of their brand of shamelessly upbeat & fun yet slightly bizarre bubblegum bass. I DON'T WANNA BE. AN MP3. 320 KBPS. YOU KNOW THAT I FEEL. KINDA REAL. KINDA OOOOOOOOO~

"Rescue, Mister"

"fountain" was the very beginning of the BLUE era, and ranks the highest on here at #45! get it yammy

I've been slowly getting into j-pop a little in the last year, and the bonkers dance-pop of Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's "Invader Invader" was probably what encouraged me to do so! technically a 2013 track yeah, but such is life

Kasabian's comeback single "eez-eh" is next at #43. I probably shouldn't. But it's too damn catchy *.*

another appearance for Hannah Diamond, with "Pink And Blue" at #42. the innocent/cutesy vocals and production have made this style rather divisive, but also strangely endearing for those not put off by the whole thing (which typically applies to me of course~)

and finally at #41, the first taste from TR/ST's recent album was "Rescue, Mister", more dark synth-pop but with a rather danceable quality as well. He still has another appearance to come in the top 40 though, so stay tuned~

SOPHIE
"HARD"

SOPHIE made my top 10 with "Bipp" last year, and inches into the top 40 this year with "HARD", the b-side to single "LEMONADE". it's a pretty mental track, almost feels like it's being performed in a steel factory of sorts, with various sound effects (one that sounds like two blown-up rubber gloves being scraped together) being thrown at you from every corner!

Shamir
"On The Regular"

after getting a positive impression from his Northtown EP, the first release since signing up with XL, "On The Regular" sees Shamir turn to... rapping? a song filled with sass, a funky production and cowbell *.* really hoping he continues to deliver the goods in 2015

that Shamir track is fabulous! here's hoping he is huge next year

(Realli can't invisage a full length)

Nero
"Satisfy"

Nero had gone a little quiet since 2011, but we got a taste of new music from them this year. "Satisfy" moves away from the brostep sound of Welcome Reality, into an Industrial house sound, stylistically not miles away from Gesaffelstein. I did enjoy this a lot, the second 'breakdown' section where that high-pitched synth just keeps on building up in the background being a highlight!

I enjoyed Satisfy as well, great as usual from Nero. Aren't they going to follow it up with some more material? :(

I'm not sure as song has ever grown on me to the point I love it and then annoyed me to the point I don't want to listen to it again as quickly as this.

Satisfy was a decent single from Nero, as good as the singles they released from their first album.

another Kero Kero appearance! extremely fun track from the London group, again shifting constantly between English & Japanese, over a light and playful instrumental still tied with a video game influence

Chromeo
"Jealous (I Ain't With It)"

took a while, but I've come to realise this is probably one of the underrated pop JAMS of 2014

a highly upbeat & bubbly effort from the canadian duo Chromeo, whose music i've liked a LOT in the past. Instrumentally feels like it's come from one of Katy Perry's mindless 'bubblegum pop' singles, mixed with more of a disco/funk element

I GET JEEEEEEEEEEEAAALOOOOUUS

Josef Salvat
"Open Season"

Josef dropped his debut EP In Your Prime earlier this year, and while he got a great deal of recognition for his very good cover of 'Diamonds', it was Adonian Republic BJSC victor 'Open Season' that truly shone bright (like a diamond! *you're supposed to laugh now*). chilling synths, and a vocal performance oozing soul and grace, it's easy to see why so many took to this one!

a fantastic and at times intense verse from Kendrick on this track, a kind of avant-garde jazz/hip-hop fusion. an interesting production that took a while for me to truly get into!

"STUPiG"

well....how to even go about this one? this was my entry for LexC's foreign language spin off contest earlier this year, and weirdly enough actually did pretty well (considering the kind of song this is). the track wastes no time slamming this speaker-destroying digital beat into your ears, distorting the group members' vocals during the verses, before toning down for the typically catchy j-pop chorus. certainly worth a listen for the experience alone, but do make sure the volume isn't TOO high up when you do~

BABYMETAL
"Megitsune"

oh look, more wacked-out j-pop! Babymetal are perhaps more of a notorious name here though, and "Megitsune" was my first impression of the group after Séyetana entered the track into BJSC. a blending off trance metal riffs and j-pop, with an unexpectedly wonderful result

aha babymetal really shouldn't work but they so do, not sure why they're so great but it's all so bonkers that I love it.

on the regular is nice, not listened to any of his previous stuff but this is a really bop. bit of a mad song really, lots going on. hope sound of.. means he might be successful a little in 2015
