I so wish Molly hadn't let out those 'WHOO's during her performance but there we go, still a fantastic pop song and great entry and I'm glad to see it doing well here! Her performance on the night was a bit of a let down compared to what she had done previously, I still think she and the song deserved better than 17th though. :(
January 9, 201510 yr Author 10. Cheryl - I Don't Care Kicking off the top 10 is the second single to be taken from Cheryl's fourth studio album. 'I Don't Care' is upbeat, feisty and pure pop which is exactly the sort of sound I'd wanted to hear from Cheryl ever since she started solo. Released last November, it went on to be Cheryl's fifth solo UK number 1 single, bringing her the record for a British solo female artist with the most UK number 1's. Unfortunately its chart run was short lived, quickly dropping from the top 40. A Cheryl release wasn't without it's controversies of course, with her mimed performance on The X Factor, bringing wide spread criticism, more so than usual despite Cheryl having done so for years. pAOHXSpE-v0
January 9, 201510 yr Author 9. Alcazar - Good Lovin' #9 are Swedish pop legends Alcazar! After their mammoth comeback to Melodifestivalen with the classic sounding 'Blame It On The Disco', the group decided to take it to the club for their second single. Of course it was a gay club they went to and the result was the fabulous 'Good Lovin''! After being initially disappointed in it (mind you I was still on a glitterball discotits entrance high!) 'Good Lovin'' quickly found it's way in to my heart and was by far and away the anthem of my summer last year. It's all gone a bit quiet on the Alcazar front since, here's hoping more new material is on its way! t8utbtzaPS4
January 10, 201510 yr Author 8. The Saturdays - Not Giving Up The Saturdays. Their career. What in the name of Aaron Renfree happened to it? The final single from their 'Living For The Weekend' campaign which spawned their FIRST EVER ACTUAL number 1 single in the shape of 'What About Us', limped in at a dismal peak position of #19. Sadly worse was to come for these contraceptive-phobes. 'Not Giving Up' was by far and away the correct choice of single though and I'm so glad it got it's rightful slot on the Greatest Hits. And I really love the video, despite the shoddy synch in the dance routine. Not even in an edit suite for hours and hours can you make these 5 dance together at the same time. God love 'em. gBoXld4URfk
January 10, 201510 yr Author 7. One Direction - You & I The final appearance from 1D is at #7. 'You & I' was the final singles to be taken from their third studio album. Despite the non-existent promo for the song it has slowly crept up in my affections over the year and is already challenging for my favourite ever 1D single! :o A really stunning ballad that was elevated with the minor tweaks that came with the single mix. And yet again, Zayn's adlibs should be prescribed on the NHS for LITERALLY GIVING LIFE *.* Shit video though. _kqQDCxRCzM
January 10, 201510 yr Surprised to see this so high :o utter BLASPHEME saying the video is shit tho - Zayn has literally never looked better zaynsdic

January 10, 201510 yr Author 6. Josef Johansson - Hela natten Just missing out on the top 5 is a totally unjust flop from last year's Melodifestivalen. OK so his outfit was questionable, but that doesn't take away from the absolutely gorgeous song, delivered so wonderfully by Josef. It's not oversung and overproduced, it's just a great Swedish pop ballad. And with Swedish songwriting legends Peter Boström and Thomas G:son on board, I was fully expecting a direkt till Globen situation. Sadly, the pre-menstrual teens of Sweden decided that an extremely average effort by twink of the moment (but not for long!) Anton Ewald was more worthy. I can't even sometimes. tL4BvsHyxc8
January 11, 201510 yr Author 5. Ella Henderson - Ghost Kicking off the top 5 is X Factor flop Ella Henderson. After the dismal year of 2011, I was only dipping in and out of X Factor in 2012. From what I saw, Ella was by far and away the best that year had to offer. I mean that top 3 of James Arthur, Jahmaine and Christopher Maloney!!! :manson: Reasons FOR taking democracy away from this country I feel. Anyway two years later and Ella Henderson came out of nowhere to release one of the songs of the decade so far in my opinion. Never since 'Sound Of The Underground' has a debut single showed so much promise. Sadly, the follow-up album was rather a let down for me, with 'Ghost' remaining the best on there. That doesn't take away from the fact this is a killer pop song. Well done everyone. tA8AfQaUnXM
January 11, 201510 yr :hi: Adam Hadn't thought of that comparison between 'Ghost' and 'Sound Of The Underground' but I completely agree with you. It was absolutely spot on in terms of hit potential and setting out her artistic identity. Also, I'd imagine, like GA's debut, it'll have aged extremely well in a decade's time.
January 11, 201510 yr Author 4. Helena Paparizou - Survivor Helena. WOW. What a return to Sweden this was. I remember reading that Helena had been confirmed for Melodifestivalen 2014 and literally FANGIRLING in the living room with confused looks from everybody in the room. After winning the ACTUAL Eurovision back in 2005 with for Greece, I was ready for her attempt to represent Sweden. And I was NOT disappointed! A true anthem for any QoL wanting to STRUT to it, 'Survivor' was the perfect entry for Helena. And she is a true survivor, in her personal life and in her route to the Melodifestivalen final. JUST. CALL. ME. A. SURVIVORRRRRRRRRRR *strut* *.* gGi2QqIrDlI
January 11, 201510 yr Author 3. The Saturdays - What Are You Waiting For? Last years EOY #1 with 'Disco Love', The Saturdays have to settle with a bronze finish for 2014. Released as the lead single for their Greatest Hits 'Finest Selection', 'What Are You Waiting For?' was the perfect celebratory single for The Sats. A high energy pop song with many a dance hook to get in your head for days. Sadly, it was to become their worst performing single chart wise, peaking at #38 on release week (thanks streaming :) ) and it's very clear we won't be getting new material from The Sats in a long time, if ever! :( Whatcha doin' Saturday girl?? :snif: ahdmNS9Nkm0
January 11, 201510 yr Author 2. Sanna Nielsen - Undo Just missing out on the top spot is the eternal bridesmaid who finally got to walk down her aisle of Eurovision in 2014, Sanna Nielsen. Hotly tipped as one of the favourites to win Melodifestivalen on her 7th attempt (!), 'Undo' was the perfect entry we'd all be waiting so long for from our Sanna. Quite simply a stunning ballad, which couldn't even be brought down by the slightly dodgy English. When she finally got to Copenhagen she put on a flawless performance, finishing in 3rd place with a whopping 218 points! Slaynna *.* 5PQJI-3LW-8
January 11, 201510 yr Author 1. Ace Wilder - Busy Doin' Nothin' It was a very easy decision when it came to my favourite song of 2014. I was very excited to hear Ace Wilder was going to be taking part in Melodifestivalen, after her previous singles 'Do It' and were very promising. She was very much the underdog, expecting to crash out in 7th in her heat. And even when I first heard 'Busy Doin' Nothin' I still thought she'd be lucky if Sweden sent her to andra chansen, despite it being utterly fantastic. But the stars were aligned for our Ace and she went direkt till Globen! :o And in a do or die battle with Sanna, she ultimately lost out on the gong by just 2 points! :drama: 'Busy Doin' Nothin' took all the best elements of current Swedish pop music and amalgamated them into 2 minutes and 53 seconds of pure pop perfection. DON'T WANNA WORK! WORK! WORK! 680R1Gq2YYU Nhi5lKqz1Wo
