I'm surprised that 'The Reason' has passed 200k. It felt like a bit of a flop here compared to how well it did in America. It must be a good trickle seller as it sold less than 40k in 2004, and was the 177th best seller of the year.

Agreed. Looking at its full chart run, it did spend a lot of time in the Top 250 in 2005 (as the chart was back then):

NE: 12-17-20-35-42-53-66 (first entry: 12/06/04) 7w

RE: 109-118 (second entry: 11/09/04) 2w

RE: 186-167 (third entry: 09/10/04) 2w

RE: 198-161-172-169-163-198-197-206-189-213-195-195-208-193-211-184-176-175-178-198-211-205-210-185-223-218-224-237 (fourth entry: 23/04/05) 28w

RE: 204-181-222 (fifth entry: 12/11/05) 3w

RE: 230 (sixth entry: 10/12/05) 1w

RE: 231-172-184 (seventh entry: 07/01/06) 3w

Total: 46w

Considering how bad sales were at the bottom of the charts at the time, I can't see it adding more than 10k/15k in 2005 which would bring its total to 44k-49k. However, it's possible for it have averaged ~15k in every year since to brings its to-date total to 200k. I could imagine Kerrang! play it and they usually really help songs to trickle sell, even if they didn't do exceptionally well initally.

Impressive for 'What's My Age Again?' considering it must of been on sub-50k at the end of 2000 and, I believe, has never re-turned to the chart since.

Well done to Mariah for getting her first 200k+ seller since 'We Belong Together'.

I think 'Walking On Sunshine' has a combined total of ~400k and 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' 700k, but don't hold me to that!

Omg Mariah/Miguel *.* Very deserving of a certification; it's still such a crime that it didn't at least achieve a Top 20 peak.

Also very pleasing to see 'Jealous' and 'I Really Like You' go gold!

Had no idea Ed Sheeran's "Bloodstream" had sold that much. This track, and "Photograph" for that matter, seem to just be consistent sellers over time and so are accumulating decent sales.

3 x Platinum for "Rather Be" too - woah!

I think that both 'Bloodstream' and 'Photograph' both managed 200k before the time they started receiving airplay. Although a huge chunk will of course be streams which Ed Sheeran seems to be the king of - would be interesting to see his single sales without them!

Thanks for stepping - just added a couple more certifications from their site, namely the Gorillaz GH which only peaked at #61!

Good for Worth It to go Silver considering it fell down the chart quickly after their #3 entry. Fantastic for Not Letting Go to reach Gold!!!
Very happy that Ben Haenow got his platinum certification. Good timing just before he brings out something new :)

Various Artists - 100 Hits: Rock n Roll - Silver - Released: 2008

Various Artists - CBeebies: Song Time - Gold - Released: 2010

For those who don't know, 12x Platinum equals 3.6m copies.

Thrilled to see Kylie finally hit 2x Platinum and impressive stuff for both 'Sweet Child O' Mine' going Platinum based on 1994+ sales only and 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' reaching Silver despite never making the Top 75!

From Shireblogger on Haven:

200,000 sales for Maggie May since 1994 suggest that the all-time total for this track is now about 990,000. Very few of those are streams, so this could become a genuine million seller before the end of 2015. (It must be doing about 25,000-30,000 a year at the moment).

Guns'n'Roses sold about 210,000 copies of Sweet Child O' Mine before 1994, so this one is on around 810,000, and doing in excess of 60,000 every year.

VERY impressed that The 1975's "Girls" has sold so well for a #45 peaking single (I know "Love Me Harder" peaked even lower, but that felt like it was around for ages).

Amazed that Martin Garrix has only just gone silver!

Great to see The Clash and All American Rejects there!
