August 9, 20159 yr Author Yeah, it'll depend on how big an iTunes lead Delta gets. I think the effect of being #1 on the chart is how Adam managed to hold so long, so he might be in for a bit of a drop tomorrow. Incidentally, ARIA appear to have increased the ratio of streaming, so The Weeknd & Galantis aren't actually that far behind Adam right now (maybe Lost Frequencies as well but his Spotify positions seem oddly low lately for some reason?). As much as I'd like her to do well with this single , I think Demi will be lucky if she can peak in the top 20. Edited August 9, 20159 yr by Dircadirca

Rather unlucky for Adam who is stuck at #2 for a second week. Thus far, next week's battle is rather difficult to predict. The top 4 on iTunes are as they are on this chart, but the key factor is that Spotify has the 4 in reverse order, putting all 4 of them neck and neck. I imagine when The Voice airs tonight, Delta will again surge somewhat but it remains to be seen if that can hold up for the whole week. Nico & Vinz are also one to watch in the near future. "That's How You Know" is their 3rd top 20 hit but I can see it climbing rapidly later in the week (currently #8 on iTunes). Meanwhile, some iTunes promo helped Jason Derulo get a new peak last week with "Cheyenne", but with that gone this week, it nearly drops straight out of the top 50. To the rescue, he has a new entry teaming up with DJ Hardwell, who has actually never even made the top 100 before. This also means Jason has 3 singles in the #41-#50 section of the chart. On the album chart, it's bad luck for The Rubens who yet again have a rather overwhelming chart opponent (their first album was out the same week as P!nk's "The Truth About Love". I've heard that Dr. Dre has had one of the biggest sales weeks of the year with his new album, which in a way is surprising as until this week, he'd never been in the top 50 albums chart. That is also amended somewhat though as his last album "2001" (which is double platinum) jumps into the top 30 to beat its old #53 peak. Next week, Dr. Dre may be able to hold the top spot, but his competition will come from Bullet For My Valentine, Dead Letter Circus & The Waifs, 3 artists who have 8 top 5 albums between them, but never a #1. August 16, 20159 yr surprised Delta is still relevant enough to get a #1 even in Australia, and the Aston Merrygold flop actually doing decently in Aus?!!?
August 16, 20159 yr Figures: Delta - 18010 (15760 sales + 750 stream unit points) - could explain her absence from Spotify Daily 50 all week. Adam - 16330 (14830 sales + 1500 stream) The Weeknd - 15090 (11840 sales + 3240 stream) - #1 this week in stream Lost Frequencies - 14900 (12950 sales + 1950 stream) The Voice is really helping guest performers do very well in the charts this season. Their ratings are far from their gigantic days, but still does very well. Good for Demi to enter Top 20. Edited August 16, 20159 yr by buzz_person
August 16, 20159 yr Author Also to note that it's a rare week where the #1 album sold more than the #1 single. "Compton" did 19185 copies which is the biggest sales week since "1989" at the start of the year.
August 16, 20159 yr Delta snatching her 9th Australian #1, and first in 8 years  Well deserved!

August 17, 20159 yr Amazing for Delta, it's a rarity for a local act to get a #1 especially now with streaming added in but it being her 9th is astounding this far into her career and coming after two flop singles I thought she'd never see such relevancy again  Top 20 is great for Demi too, her first in fact! It's her first "proper" top 40 too, Let It Go reached #25 because of Frozen but that's it.
August 17, 20159 yr Are Delta's figures incorrect? 15760 + 750 isn't 18010? You're right!!! They got Adam and Lost Frequencies' numbers right. The Weeknd's total is off only by 10 and Delta is way off. Now looking at it, I am assuming their physical sales are being counted but not being released from the source I got it from, which might be the case. I find it interesting that CFMF has sold 10 copies from stores that week. I also remember seeing Samantha Jade performing at a club a few weeks back and they were giving away free CDs of her latest song!! Edited August 17, 20159 yr by buzz_person

I know the person that the sales info comes from, and they always scrub out the last digit in the figures because ARIA don't allow *exact* figures to be published online. So whether by rounding up or down, The Weeknd's total is solely from digital + streaming. Delta's are definitely physical sales though I'm surprised they're that high still in her 3rd week. Nico & Vinz get their 2nd top 10 hit with "That's How You Know" which probably would be #1 next week if not for the aforementioned push. For some reason Aston Merrygold is in the top 10 too. Streaming is also catching up with increasingly dire sales, as Jess Glynne & Duke Dumont's top 40 digital tracks aren't even able to hit the top 50 officially this week. Though they only have 1 top 50 apiece this year, Fetty Wap & Disclosure both get a 4th chart debut for 2015. On the album chart, Welsh rockers Bullet For My Valentine finally achieve their first #1, possibly aided by their timely Soundwave festival slot announcement. Many condolences for Dead Letter Circus though, as all 3 of their albums now have peaked at #2, the first two being behind Justin Bieber & RÜFÜS respectively. This moves them up to tied 2nd with the Backstreet Boys for most #2 albums without a #1. They're still a while away from leading that stat though, as all 5 of Radiohead's albums released this century have peaked at #2 without a #1 in sight (even Thom Yorke's first solo album peaked at #2 as well!). Meanwhile the Avril Lavigne album that was deemed ineligible in the UK sits at #23 because ARIA are silly  Next week's album chart looks like a battle between Disturbed and Bon Jovi, with Rob Thomas potentially in the mix too.
August 23, 20159 yr Avril Lavigne and Family Guy game!!!   Delta is really on a roll with Wings and it is well deserved. It is truly much better than Sitting On Top of the World in 2012. Anja, last year's Voice winner, flopped with her new single and she even performed on The Voice last week! She didn't even make Top 50 on iTunes so not really surprised. Expecting huge second week from Nico & Vinz. Sony better be prepared this week with How Deep Is Your Love as Universal will give an enormous push to The Weeknd's Can't Feel My Face. Both these songs are virtually everywhere from radio to TV!! Both songs are also consistently strong on sales and streaming. Lana is apparently still at number 51, and I'm hoping she can achieve higher results for High By The Beach. Then again, Lana performs much better on albums anyway. Singles Sales (number 2-4 are really close): Delta: 14760 Calvin: 13530 The Weeknd: 13130 (#1 on stream) Lost Frequencies: 13020 Adam: 12490 Edited August 23, 20159 yr by buzz_person
August 23, 20159 yr Author Lana dropped down to #55 actually. She's nearly top 50 on Spotify and has two versions on iTunes so she might be able to sneak in this week. Don't think I can see The Weeknd getting to #1 though (although his album looks a good chance 2 weeks from now). They haven't bothered to discount it or get it on a promo or anything; I feel like Sony is the only company that try to game the Aus charts :P Short of some sudden shift of sales, I think Calvin has this week locked down. Also to note, Fire and the Flood is getting covered on The Voice tonight, so that could jump into the top 10 perhaps. Edited August 23, 20159 yr by Dircadirca

I've just checked Youtube which tells me he performed on Sunrise Australia last week and Dancing With The Stars on Sunday, presumably along with other promotion/a radio tour, which'd explain it. And yeah, I'm pretty sure JLS didn't impact Australia at all so this solo success is all the more impressive. EDIT: Oh wait, the Dancing With The Stars performance wouldn't have affected the above chart then but I'd imagine the fact he's currently #4 on iTunes is down to it.
