January 8, 201510 yr Very glad Something I Need was right near the bottom, terribly lifeless and dull version of my favourite One Republic song. That's strange  I though 1R's "version" was the duller one to me
January 9, 201510 yr Author 25th • Ed Sheeran Sing • 1340 points tlYcUqEPN58 24th • Cheryl - I Don't Care • 1350 points pAOHXSpE-v0 23rd • Take That - These Days • 1450 points I43R3jIFE74 22nd • 5 Seconds Of Summer - She Looks So Perfect • 1450 points X2BYmmTI04I What a fab bunch. Starting us off is Ed Sheeran with his first EVER #1. http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/hprofile-ak-xpa1/t5.0-1/41787_138659892838767_2273_q.jpg This Pharrell produced single, taken from the biggest album of 2014, is v swag. Ed isn't always the most popular on here but he does have another even bigger single to come later on (although he SHOULDN'T as this is loads better x). Just squeezing ahead is our second track from Cheryl, the record breaking "I Don't Care". It may have broken the record for her but overall it wasn't a long-running hit. But she DOESN'T CARE. In my opinion it's the best thing she's produced so far and a HUGE step up from the previous single. A tie in points between the next two, both male groups. Take That and 5 Seconds Of Summer were both awarded positive points by 24 voters but 5SOS received one 150 (from myself) whereas Take That didn't receive one, hence how they are split. "These Days" is the first single from "III" and the first as a three-piece and one that I found a rather surprising #1, although maybe it wasn't really? A fairly good song that I think ranks roughly in the middle of all the #1s of last year. And my personal favourite #1 of the year finishes in 22nd, not awful for a boyband on here! After an ugly 1-10 drop, this thankfully went on to become a genuine hit with a really good top 40 run thanks in part to Radio 1 jumping on board. It appears to be a guilty pleasure for some with the iconic American Apparel underwear lyric.
January 9, 201510 yr Don't get why Sing is hated (except overplay). It sounds like a Justin Timberlake song from 2003 which is always a good thing! Edited January 9, 201510 yr by ML Hammer95
January 9, 201510 yr Don't get why Sing is hated (except overplay) My point EXACTLY :drama: Take That, why are they here? Is it because they are 'old' or they are missing two members? PLEASE :drama:
January 12, 201510 yr Author Take That, why are they here? Is it because they are 'old' or they are missing two members? PLEASE :drama: They are here because they had a UK #1 single in 2014 :magic: 21st • SecondCity - I Wanna Feel • 1480 points 8wRW57nBLMI 20th • Sam Smith - Stay With Me • 1680 points pB-5XG-DbAA 19th • Calvin Harris feat. John Newman - Blame • 1690 points 6ACl8s_tBzE 18th • Meghan Trainor - All About That Bass • 1960 points 7PCkvCPvDXk Cracking on with this again we have what is in my opinion one of the more forgettable #1s of the year in "I Wanna Feel". Wasn't a massive long-running hit, moving on quickly~ Inside the top 20 we find Sam Smith with "Stay With Me", huge in the US and the UK and it still haunts us to this day, much like "Thinking Out Loud". Even as a big fan of Sam Smith I'm incredibly bored of this now. Narrowly ahead are Calvin Harris and John Newman with "Blame". I forget the specifics of the release strategy but it was kinda/almost On Air, On Sale wasn't it? Have a lot of love for this, the best of this group and leagues ahead of "Summer". And in 18th is breakout star Meghan Trainor with marmite track "All About That Bass", the last to fall short of 2000 points. An incredibly annoying song, something that many seem to agree with but equally loads love it and it became one of the defining hits of 2014. "Lips Are Movin'" is better.
January 12, 201510 yr How did Stay With Me's dullness EVER manage to beat Sing (especially, gutted that's so low) and She Looks So Perfect? :(
January 12, 201510 yr I Want To Feel is so underrated. Tragic to say it would probably have been the Uptown Funk in the 90s :kink:
January 13, 201510 yr Author 17th • Nico & Vinz - Am I Wrong • 2090 points bg1sT4ILG0w 16th • Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud • 2420 points lp-EO5I60KA 15th • Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj - Bang Bang • 2520 points 0HDdjwpPM3Y Not the best trio but these are the three tracks to finish within the 2000 to 3000 point range. Norwegian duo Nico & Vinz, previously known as Envy, are in 17th. "Am I Wrong" achieved international success following on from being entered to BJSC and they became the first Norwegians to top the UK chart since a-ha. I personally got bored of it very quickly once it took off. Then we come to Ed Sheeran with the incredibly overrated "Thinking Out Loud". I love him but this is one of my least favourites from the album :/ It was originally charting as an album track before being promoted as a single and eventually it had a couple of separate stints at #1 - thanks a lot Ben Haenow. It's also his highest peaker in the US, having reached #4 thus far. Venturing into the top 15 we find Jessie J alongside Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj. I don't love it or hate it either way, it's certainly not her worst. Like with Ed, this became Jessie's highest peaker in the US, debuting at #6 and charting at #3 later on. Former The Voice UK coach Jessie is now off to be a coach on the Australian version of the show (0 ) I'm sure she'll be greatly missed, especially following the success of her latest single..
January 13, 201510 yr Am I Wrong finishing behind those two atrocities... Exactly! :cheer: Thinking Out Loud is supposed to be an album only track. It has infected the chart by being released. Also Bang Bang is my least fave 2014 #1, although I don't mind it, I just don't see all the hype  Shame because I really like Ariana :nocheer:
January 14, 201510 yr I Want To Feel is so underrated. Tragic to say it would probably have been the Uptown Funk in the 90s :kink: It's rubbish  . Klingande "Jubel" deserved number one that week!!
January 14, 201510 yr Author 14th • Sigma feat. Paloma Faith - Changing • 3240 points oAeotgCHL3E 13th • Pitbull feat. Ke$ha - Timber • 3470 points hHUbLv4ThOo 12th • Route 94 feat. Jess Glynne - My Love • 3490 points BS46C2z5lVE 11th • Duke Dumont feat. Jax Jones - I Got U • 3540 points FHCYHldJi_g The final set before we can start work on the top 10, we come to "Changing", one of two #1 singles for Sigma, this one featuring the vocals of Paloma Faith. A decent track but "Nobody To Love" is still a lot better imo so YAY at that making the top 10. 13th goes to "Timber", the first #1 of the year and one of the very very best, it was mostly all downhill from here. Still a complete and utter jam  Barely ahead is "My Love". I didn't realise that this was as liked as it seemingly is on here, I find it incredibly boring and one of the major lowlights of this countdown. Annnnnnd just missing the top 10 is "I Got U". But don't worry, all the best tracks end up at #11 (aimed at Idina and no one else). Pretty decent dance tune, Duke has gone one better than the 12th place achieved by "Need U (100%)" last year. I Got U > Top 10 in alphabetical order; Ariana, Clean Bandit, Ella Henderson, Kiesza, Lilly Wood, Mark Ronson, Mr Probz, Oliver Heldens, Rita Ora, Sigma
January 14, 201510 yr It's rubbish  . Klingande "Jubel" deserved number one that week!! Well if it's any consolation I do love Jubel too :D I Got U is #3 on my 2014 chart, #2 on the non-existing 'charted-only' chart and #1 on number ones of 2014 :P (held back by M&F's Control. Too many :wub:s for that track :o :kink: My Love and Timber also appear in my top 100 :D I doubt we will ever see a Pitbull track so high on a BJ chart again  Changing's vocals are really good but the production is quite a let down. Nobody To Love is ONE HECK of a tunneee! :cheer:
January 15, 201510 yr Author Yass Adam, don't let this thread die and be a total flop. 10th • Rita Ora - I Will Never Let You Down • 3670 points 50GQjUZ4P3M 9th • Oliver Heldens & Becky Hill - Gecko (Overdrive) • 3960 points kcZMCMI24gs 8th • Lilly Wood & Robin Schulz - Prayer In C • 4450 points fiore9Z5iUg 7th • Sigma - Nobody To Love • 4480 points KD5fLb-WgBU 6th • Mr Probz - Waves • 4600 points 6MH9qWemtPo Kicking off the top 10 is Academy Award nominee (well, in a way..) and new Voice coach Rita Ora. Produced by Calvin Harris, "I Will Never Let You Down" is a pretty basic pop song but that's what makes it so good and it also seems to appeal to some of her 'haters'. The follow-up is ALMOST upon us. Talking of The Voice, the only contestant to have success after the show is next in the form of Becky Hill with Oliver Heldens. Never got the appeal of this song or the weird ass video, it'll always be awful to me. This dance dominated group includes two songs with a Robin Schulz credit, the better of the two (imo) being "Prayer In C" at #8 and the other not massively far ahead, "Waves". This commentary wouldn't be complete without a shout-out to the most iconic act name of the year, Lilly Wood and the Prick. Sandwiched in between are duo Sigma with "Nobody To Love", one of the very best dance tunes of last year. It makes Kanye West sound good. A look at Wikipedia tells me that the vocals are provided by Daniel Pearce - One True Voice relevance. *_*
January 15, 201510 yr By my reckoning that's the same top 5 as the other thread then bar Mark Ronson (can't remember who for though). Would be funny if Ella won this one but somehow I don't see that happening! Edited January 15, 201510 yr by Dobbo
January 15, 201510 yr YAY ARI, KIESZA AND ELLA TOP 5 :cheer: Just about all these songs are amazing
