December 26, 20159 yr Delighted that Doctor Who secured such high ratings in comparison to how the series has fared this year. It's particularly impressive when you take into account the very early timeslot and the fact that all the other programmes are actually down on their normal ratings, whereas Doctor Who has actually increased by at least 1.5m! It's amazing that it beat Eastenders and Coronation Street, showing that there's still a lot of interest in the show. I guess it shows that the show needs to be placed earlier that 8:30pm and hopefully the BBC takes this into account next year.
December 26, 20159 yr Using the ratings posted, this is the Top 10 most watched programmes for Christmas Day: 01. 6.50m Downton Abbey (5.51m) 02. 6.49m Strictly Come Dancing (6.98m) 03. 6.41m Mrs Brown's Boy (7.61m) 04. 6.36m Stick Man 05. 5.80m Call the Midwife (6.83m) 06. 5.77m Doctor Who (6.34m) 07. 5.73m Eastenders (7.55m) 08. 5.59m Coronation Street (6.41m) 09. 4.26m Emmerdale (5.53m) 10. 3.62m Michael McIntyre's Big Christmas Show In brackets are the ratings from last Christmas - all are down, some quite significantly, aside from Downton Abbey which is, unsurprisingly, up due to it being the last ever episode and being advertised in every single ad break on ITV since the beginning of December. The biggest shock is Eastenders which is almost 2m down! It's had bigger ratings even this week. Suppose that could be somewhat put down to the clash with Downton Abbey, but that's still a big drop however you look at it. It was the second most-viewed programme last year.
December 26, 20159 yr Brave also got 5.5m and BBC and The Queen's message got a combined audience of 7.2m (6.1m on BBC One and 1.1m on ITV).
December 26, 20159 yr I see that some articles have added +1 channel ratings which puts Corrie ahead of Eastenders.
December 26, 20159 yr Just seent that Stick Man also got 6.4m! :o Apparently my three-year-old niece absolutely loved it. As soon a it had finished, she wanted to watch it again, but it was time to go home from my brother's in-laws. She kept repeating on the way home that she wanted to see it again. When they got home, she was told she could see it again in the morning, so, at about 6am, she wandered into her parents' room asking if it was morning yet "so I can see Stick Man". She was persuaded to go back to bed, and eventually watched it again (twice) at about 8-ish. She held out until this afternoon before the fourth viewing
December 26, 20159 yr Brave also got 5.5m and BBC and The Queen's message got a combined audience of 7.2m (6.1m on BBC One and 1.1m on ITV). In all my 50+ years on the planet - I'm pleased to say that I have never watched any Queen's Christmas Day messages! Is this a record?
December 26, 20159 yr 13 years ago the Queens Speech was pulling almost 10 million viewers.. shame to see there has been a dip in interest.
December 26, 20159 yr In all my 50+ years on the planet - I'm pleased to say that I have never watched any Queen's Christmas Day messages! Is this a record? No. I've managed 55 years without ever watching it :D
December 27, 20159 yr EastEnders and Downtown done great considering they clashed, if aired separately they would rated far higher. In general the Christmas ratings are very low this year. Not the best year for Christmas tv.
December 27, 20159 yr Boxing Day 2015 BBC One Eastenders: 5.68m (26.6%) Dickensian: 4.99m (24.9%) Still Open All Hours: 5.15m (24.9%) Dickensian: 4.34m (20.9%) And Then There Were None: 6.01m (27.5%) BBC Two Top Gear: From A to Z: 1.36m (6.6%) A Gert Lush Christmas: 830k (3.8%) Country Strife: Abz on the Farm Christmas Special: 539k (2.7%) Backchat End of Year Show: 477k (2.9%) ITV Surprise Surprise: 2.46m (12%) Peter & Wendy: 1.44m (6.8%) The Jonathan Ross Show: 1.13m (6.2%) Channel 4 The Secret Life of Children at Christmas: 496k (2.7%) Britain;s Favourite Children's Books with David Walliams: 680k (3.4%) Inside Lego at Christmas: 1.77m (8.5%) The Big Fat Quiz of the Year 2015: 2.14m (10.6%) Channel 5 Christmas Makes You Laugh Out Loud: 622k (3%)
December 27, 20159 yr Great showing for BBC One but absolutely AWFUL for ITV especially when Peter & Wendy had the likes of Stanley Tucci involved.
December 27, 20159 yr Some additions for BBC One: The Croods: 3.5m Shaun the Sheep: The Farmer's Llamas: 4.8m Match of the Day: 3.4m
December 28, 20159 yr If you think yesterday was bad for ITV, wait until you see last night's ratings. Nothing passed 2m or 10% share all day! Atrocious!
December 28, 20159 yr Nice to see EE getting pretty much the same ratings for Boxing Day as it did for Christmas Day - they're pretty bad for the latter but very good for the former given it's never on a Saturday and, as far as I'm aware, wasn't advertised by the BBC.
December 28, 20159 yr Wow... And Than There Were None, got top ratings :o Mind you that was the best dramatisation I've seen in ages.
December 29, 20159 yr Sunday 27th December 2015 BBC One Countryfile: 5.68m (29.4%) Still Open All Hours: 4.95m (24.4%) And Then There Were None: 5.14m (24.1%) BBC Two Dragon's Den: 1.94m (9.5%) Gorilla Family & Me: 1.4m (6.6%) U2: Innocence and Experience Live in Paris: 419k (3.2%) ITV Jekyll & Hyde: 1.17m (6%), 1.07m (5.2%) Harry Pride: Ghost Hunter: 1.39m (7.6%) Channel 4 Walking the Himalayas: 1.66m (8.1%) Homeland: 936k (4.4%) 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Christmas Special: 707k (4.4%) Channel 5 On Benefits: Cashing in for Christmas: 1.09m (5.3%) Most Shocking Celebrity Moments 2015: 1.07m (6.05%) Sky One Fungus the Bogeyman: 696k (3.6%) Highest overnight figure for Sky One of the year
