Apart from roads which was quite a few months back, the boys haven't had a successful single from this project. It needs more promotion and a good radio friendly single!!

'Roads' was essentially a fan release and didn't appeal to anyone outside of their core fanbase (11-33-56-76-Out). I don't know why it all went so wrong - I really thought 'Roads' was going to be huge for them!

For the new single to not even trouble the Top 100 on iTunes despite some promo was shocking.

Roads had more of an edgier and mature sound. I think streaming has gone against them as I read this would have gone top 5 on downloads and physicals combined. Money should have done much better but never heard it on the radio. Where my love goes is a nice song but not strong enough or radio friendly to be a single.
Big drop in sales. I suspect they will be dropped as album will be lucky to sell 20k in total.
Oh well. The album is amazing and that's all that matters. If they get dropped they can release independently.

I always root for Lawson but this will be lucky to sell 10k...

I don't feel that Money or Where My Love Goes were good singles. Both very boring. Roads should've done better, and of course would've done better, without streaming. They won't be able to turn this era around so I'm worried about their future. I think they need to switch up their sound a bit.

It's such a struggle for any artist once radio shuns them. Even harder for bands like Lawson who aren't properly established.

I bought the album on release day, and finally had chance to listen to it today. I am very impressed - a more mature direction for the group, and their sound is a lot better - folkish elements with "We Are The Fire" and "When I'm Old", the power-ballad "Lion's Den" and the gorgeous tracks "Only Water" and "Love and War". I've only the standard edition mind, but I'm impressed. Well worth purchasing.

Saddest thing is, if they're not getting the exposure then the songs and the album will fail. It may have only sold 2k copies in it's first week, but it shows they have 2k people who like them. Plus just because it's #23 doesn't mean it's awful.

If they get dropped and release independently, then at least we can listen to their music.

23-Out :drama: So doubt they will challenge 4K of sales in 2 weeks! Really don't understand why their fanbase literally seems to have evaporated!

The singles campaign in the run up to the album release has been a bit of a mess. Roads was out ages ago and most people have probably forgotten about it. Money didn't impact at all on the charts and neither did the follow up song. They need a strong single release to help the album.

I don't think there's anything that can be done now, to be fair I'd argue most people would barely be aware of 'Roads' existence in the first place.

It's a solid album but there is no song on there that I think could become a big hit and revive the album - This disaster of an era is over, just hope they still get decent ticket sales for their tour which will encourage them to continue even if they do get dropped.

So the lads did a gig at Islington Academy last night...and (a friend of mine was there and confirmed this) they were all a bit emotional at the last song and there's now a lot of whispers across Twitter tonight that it was in fact their last ever gig and that they're taking a break. Nothing would surprise me to be honest but sad news if it is.
I am gutted, but it is for the best. I think Andy's strong point is songwriting. They just don't seem to be attracting attention out of their core fanbase.

I have noticed as well that Ryan and Adam have been embarking on solo ventures in the last month - Ryan has started vlogging and Adam is giving drum lessons (?!) - but yeah as you say probably for the best. Sad really that what happened to them with this album happened but with hindsight it was almost inevitable with all the delays.
Well hardly surprising I guess given the lack of interest in perspective but very sad. They remain one of the few new acts who are genuinely talented and can really sing and write their own material.
