February 11, 201510 yr Author Chart Highlights Mark Ronson (featuring Bruno Mars) spends a 6th week at #1 on the Billboard with "Uptown Funk!". In its 3 months (13 weeks) on the chart, the song has sold just over 3,500,000 downloads, averaging 270,000 a week.Rihanna returns to familiar territory in the Top 10 with "FourFiveSeconds", as her collaboration with Kanye West and Paul McCartney climbs to #9. She has been in the Top 10 every since 2005 except for last year."FourFiveSeconds" also gives Paul McCartney the longest gap between Top 10 hits at just over 29 years ("Spies Like Us" was his last Top 10 entry in 1986), and the longest duration of Top 10 hits on the chart at 1½ months short of 44 years ("Another Day" was his first Top 10 in 1971). Including his Beatles output, the longest duration of Top 10 hits on the chart is just over 51 years ("I Want to Hold Your Hand" went Top 10 in 1964).

February 12, 201510 yr 09 10 Taylor Swift - Shake It Off I really, really wanted this to die off weeks ago and I thought after post-Xmas purchases it was gonna do a freefall but its longevity has been outstanding. Not even really because it's spent 24 weeks in the top ten so far, but because it managed to not only span the entire campaign of its follow-up single, but now stretch into the campaign of the third single, almost entirely within the top ten (bar a week). Like, it's happened before, technically ("Roar" -> "Unconditionally" -> "Dark Horse") except there was a shorter span between those singles, and "Unconditionally" barely did anything. But "Blank Space" was itself a massive single and you would think it would've diverted attention away from "Shake It Off" weeks ago. Now "Style" is making its way up and "Shake It Off" is still top ten :o It just doesn't seem like this happens very often! Edited February 12, 201510 yr by dhwe
February 12, 201510 yr Author I presume Katy Perry (Roar) is recurrent and didn't sell/stream enough to re-enter the Top 50.
February 12, 201510 yr 5 Brits (not counting the Paul/Rihanna collaboration)... not bad! Does Ed Sheeran have a shot at #1 next week after the Grammys perf? 4. Hozier is Irish. Why exactly are Irish acts included in the purple colouring if I may ask?
February 12, 201510 yr Author 4. Hozier is Irish. Why exactly are Irish acts included in the purple colouring if I may ask? Because the purple colouring highlights British and Irish artists  As to why, it's because (for example) Westlife doing well in the UK & US would garner the same amount of coverage in the UK whether they were from Northern or Southern Ireland.

Exactly. Irish acts are of interest to a British forum too, and not just to the Irish members who frequent it.

February 15, 201510 yr 4. Hozier is Irish. Why exactly are Irish acts included in the purple colouring if I may ask? I'm more confused as to why Hawaiian artists are coloured purple.
February 15, 201510 yr I'm more confused as to why Hawaiian artists are coloured purple. You didn't hear about the UK colonising Hawaii? Do you live under a rock?
February 15, 201510 yr You didn't hear about the UK colonising Hawaii? Do you live under a rock? Well their flag does incorporate the Union Jack
