No word of what it will be. I hope they're not planning on not releasing one at all. This time in 2013, we already knew what it was

I'm sure there'll be some sort of release but we should have had a rough idea by now. Mind you if the last 2 are anything to go by I'll happily go without one this time.

I get the distinct impression given the lack of word from Comic Relief themselves that there either isn't one this year or it'll premier on the night of the telethon with a midnight release for maximum impact.

Let's be honest, in recent years they're no longer the big sellers that they used to be in the heyday of Spice Girls or McFly releasing them. One Direction's single in 2013, atrocious though it was, was the exception rather than the rule.

And realistically I can't for the life of me think who'd do it this time. The Vamps, maybe?

I'm expecting another "hilarious" attempt that premiers.on the night like I Know Him So Well and Barry Islands In The Stream

Could be or Union J. They won't have Little Mix as they did the sport relief single last year

Presuming Comic Relief actually want to make as much money from this as possible; their first choice of group (after 1D but I doubt they'd do it again) would be The Vamps.

The ""funny"" ones don't even sell anymore so I doubt they'd go down that route again.

I love "Just Can't Get Enough," "Gold Forever," and "One Way or Another (Teenage Kicks)". I even love "Walk This Way," but that's probably an unpopular opinion.

"Just Can't Get Enough" still remains one of the best of the singles tbh

I can see The Vamps doing it this year. Maybe Charli XCX if she wasn't so busy promoting Sucker

I was about to say, the Peter Kay as Geraldine/SuBo thing from 2011 was an unmitigated flop.

It definitely needs to be an 'on the night performance/midnight release' for maximum impact. Physical copies only if the demand is there but then that's even a risky move in itself given the amount of copies of 'Gold Forever' and 'I Know Him So Well' that were still being remaindered to 25p a year later in the Asda near my university.

And I liked 'Gold Forever'. One of The Wanted's better moments in their singles canon by far. I imagine The Vamps will be wanting to get something out soon in advance of their second album still being so far away - much like, it has to be said, with striking parallel to McFly when they did it with 'All About You' six months before their second album 'Wonderland' came out.

I doubt it. Aren't Comic Relief singles meant to be fun, upbeat tracks?

Popjustice tweeted it. From Record of the Day magazine.

If it were Sam Smith, I'd hope it's a new track rather than Lay Me Down. :( Comic Relief surely should lead to a more upbeat track. Would raise loads of money though a la How Long Will I Love You.
Well 'Lay Me Down' is out the Monday after Comic Relief which is why I guessed that. I hope it is a different song though or at least a throwback AA Side!
Sam Smith's idea of humour will probably be painting his mic stand red or some shit like that. Come back The Kumars and Gareth Gates, all is forgiven...

Are you sure it will be as entertaining as that

His humour is probably tending to close the door when he goes home
