I may be wrong but isn't the streaming addition to the album chart not for another week?

I'm sure they said it was effective for the chart announced on March 1. They specifically mentioned that it would include any Brits effect on streaming.

Ah, I think I read that as meaning streams start contributing on the 1st of March but you're probably right in that case.

I don't consider March 1 or 1 March (or even 1st of March) to be particularly American or British. They are both perfectly unambiguous so I don't think it matters. OTOH, 3/1/15 for 1 March 2015 is illogical. I have to admit that, when using a digit and a month, I do have a tendency to use both although I would always aim for consistency in the same piece of work. I would also use March 1 but would cringe if somebody read that out loud as March one (or even March first).

 

On your main point, my initial assumption was that the date referred to the date when streaming data would be added, but I think the more detailed explanation made it clear that streaming data will be added from today (whether we like it or not).
