Mans is brilliant, a potential winner and probably a contender in Vienna if it gets that far

Still on team Mariette personally but if it's a choice between that and jag ar fri then Heroes will do very nicely.

i have been a bit critical of late but i really want a full blown 'hero' trajectory cross-pollinated with loreen's eurovision journey for mariette. the best thing to come out of melfest for several years.

hun you have literally only followed this year and last year i will need you to do exploration before you're coming out with definitive statements like THIS (regardless of how true they may be)

AMAZING heat

01 - Dinah Nah - The Romanian slutpop wave LIVES! *.* I like to imagine that somewhere in a Bucharest bordello Sanda is tending to her weeping sores with tears of joy on hearing this

02 - Annika Herlitz - Okay this is the kind of track which could literally have been entered in any year since 1981 but IT HASN'T IN A WHILE AND THAT'S THE POINT. Thank god we have this otherwise we might have gone a whole MF without a VoR 'MF IS DEAD' tantrum and the idea of that is just UNACCEPTABLE

03 - Midnight Boy - OMG OMG OMG I'm QUEENING OUT PROPER OVER THIS, I can't wait to dance like a miserable 80s queen with Kaposi's Sarcoma to this *.* I'm probably going to end up listening to this the most out of all the songs in this heat - it's totally shameless, totally doomed, and totally fabulous

04 - Caroline Wennergren - :o Those harmonies in the chorus are SO Amanda Jenssen it's RIDICULOUS but THIS IS AMAZING. I wonder if this is the track they were trying to get her to enter with last year? I'm a little upset Caroline's comeback isn't disgusting as I was looking forward to trolling people by bursting out into song with it as A Different Kind of Love has been, but this is probably for the best. This is actually probably better than fourth but that's how good this heat is.

05 - Måns Zelmerlöw - It's interesting and really suits the heat 4 song 8 slot but I'm sorry Måns, in a heat with a generic MF Swede ballad, a woman making Ace Wilder glad she's no longer the oldest creature to ever enter MF, and Midnight Boy, you're going to have to UP YOUR GAME

06 - JTR - Look I can't even really forgive Eric for One Direction offcuts so you voxless nobodies can just take a running jump

07 - Hasse - Does my withered face remind you of the grim spectre of death?

Heroes is definitely impressing me more in 2:30 form, a song that builds very well into something incredibly anthemic. Really hoping he or Jon can take it (or Isa if she's really in contention but I highly doubt it).

Now we've heard everything (aside from the last 30 seconds of this heat's tracks obv), I'd say Mariette and Måns are the only real contenders for the whole shebang (as in the Eurovision win). Jon Henrik would probs flop and I think Sting mght do about as well as You did? Maybe. It depends if him being a bigger name than Robin was helps but tbf he won't be getting that far anyway.

Heroes is my fourth fave of the whole thing behind Don't Stop Believing, Don't Stop and Hello Hi.

I really don't think Jon would flop at Eurovision at all, I really disagree with this, we're British and quite a lot of us find the whole thing really quite spectacular so it's not just something that makes sense to a small group. It's very unusual for Eurovision but would stand out incredibly, it's anthemic, really well produced, quite emotional, well performed. I think it'd challenge for the win a lot more than the others (perhaps Mariette aside though I'm saying this going by the hype on here).
I don't think Jon Henrik would win, but top 10 would definitely be very possible.

Dinah Nah: *.* I KNEW there was going to be an explosive chorus in this. YASS YASSS YASSSSS A MILLION TIMES YASSSSS. MANS WHO

Midnight Boy: It WORKS despite being ridiculously dated. AMAZING.

Måns Zelmerlöw: Eh. This was supposed to be groundbreaking. Still great but erm let's hope Mariette slays your old ass

Annika Herlitz: Disney called, they want their dress and staging and song back.

Caroline Wennergren: I think this is going to work better live. Still, this is dead last in heat realness, sadly :(

Hasse: Actually could be good when DRUNK.

JTR: oh god there's kind of a BREAKDOWN in this bitch?! Sounds 6.5/10. Skip

Also,

THANK HEAVENS

Jon Henrik would suffer what we in the biz call "the Malena effect" i.e. all the power and impact would be lost because you would have to try and replicate the effect of the massive choir on the backing track with a maximum of 5 people (not to mention probably getting rid of the angels and the dancers while you're at it unless you can find three people who are really good at singing while suspended in mid air).

Add to that the fact that he was quite out of tune in places, he isn't exactly a charismatic performer and the fact that ethnically flavoured songs are struggling in eurovision these days you're on track for a national embarrassment.

Basically Sweden, you've got two potential eurovision winners in this selection, (to quote a very wise manwoman) "Good Luck...and DON'T f*** IT UP!"
That is Jon Henrik's main problem indeed, to try and replicate the backing vocals and stage production live at Eurovision will be very difficult - unless they do a 'Marija Magdalena' and break the rules! :kink:

Well, turns out I'm here for the first hour after all!

Haven't even heard any clips so this will be exciting.
