Posted March 13, 201510 yr http://i2.listal.com/image/1877071/936full-shania-twain.jpg Big thanks to everyone who sent in votes. All counted up now, results to kick off sooni-ish. What song will reign supreme? I can confirm that the winner actually changed thanks to two last minute additions. ooooo.
March 13, 201510 yr I neglected to vote (was gonna listen to the other tracks I wasn't as familiar with but got sidetracked), but I'm rooting for a 'You're Still The One' win.
March 14, 201510 yr Argh Regina I forgot to listen to the rest of my tracks I hadn't voted for :( Gonna Getcha Good needs to do well
March 14, 201510 yr Author Let's kick off with the albums. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/da/Shania_Twain_-_The_Complete_Limelight_Sessions.png 5 | The Complete Limelight Sessions/Wild & Wicked | Average Score: 6.3 bjsZFo-1kxs Wayyyyy back in the late 80's and early 90's, before Mutt, Shania was a little more rocky, a little more slutty. A collection of songs she recorded before she hit the big time. Wild & Wicked came out first, I think, but only in the UK, I think. The Complete Limelight Sessions features all the songs from this and a few more, including the amaze It's Alright, which in it's club mix is really one of her best songs. I'm guessing nobody really knows these songs hence the low scores for it, I do think it's worth a listen, Hate To Love is a pretty good Shania-ish ballad and her cover of Cher's Half-Breed is flawless.
March 15, 201510 yr Author http://www.shaniatwaincity.com/CD_Covers/shania_twain.jpg 04 | Shania Twain | Average Score: 7.3 wcBplbfXgSY A few steps up is her proper debut, with a truely Iconic album cover, that wolf is likely dead now. Not a bad album it has to be said, but a bit overlooked when it comes to her others. I can't really remember many of the songs on it, but there are some lovely songs on it, namely the single Dance With The One That Brought You.
March 15, 201510 yr I love that album cover for some reason. My favorites are 'Forget Me', 'Crime of the Century' and 'When He Leaves You'. Though it doesn't really feel like a Shania album, 'cause she didn't write anything and there's a considerable lack of brackets and punctuation. So I'd say a deserved fourth place.
March 20, 201510 yr Author http://www.shaniatwaincity.com/CD_Covers/twim_uk_bmac.jpg 03 | The Woman In Me | Average Score: 7.86 XoFJbeBXuCc Not a shock really, we all knew what the top 2 would be, but something had to come in 3rd and it was her second album, the rather good The Woman In Me. This was when she really took off and become huge. The brackets and punctuation came in full force and so did the sales. There are some great balads on this album, but the uptempos outshine them IMO, especially (If You're Not In It For Love) I'm Outta Here! the remix of it on the album is especially good.
March 25, 201510 yr Author http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41n-QiE0faL.jpg 02 | Up! | Average: 8.8 -XB0R3-bJ0w http://www.shaniatwaincity.com/CD_Covers/coo_intl.jpg 01 | Come On Over | Average Score: 10.1 lAqKGtQxBGI Can't imagine this is any shock really. Up! comes in 3 different versions; Red (Pop), Green (Country) and Blue (World) so everyone is happy. This is actually my personal favourite by Shania, out of 19 tracks the only one I don't come back to often is Ain't No Particular Way. The ballads on it are much better than the ones on COO too. Come On Over is the best selling country album ever, best selling album by a female, basically, it's massive. Over 30 million copies sold. Again, there are different pop and country version there, the country one being harder to find since it only really was released in America.
March 25, 201510 yr Definitely her best album <3 And average higher than 10, what kind of slayage *.*
March 25, 201510 yr The slayage is real for Come On Over... it really cemented everything for her. I remember buying the album in 1999 and enjoying it with my mum, lol.
March 27, 201510 yr Author And NOW on to the best bit, the singles. Shania slayage....AWAY! 34 | 6.77 | Dance With The One That Brought You 35 | 6.54 | You Lay A Whole Lot Of Love On Me 36 | 6.45 | Endless Love (Lionel Richie feat. Shania Twain) 37 | 6.35 | I Ain't No Quitter! 38 | 5.90 | God Bless This Child bAqz0AwLRjk2eK9WwCK22o An interesting mix here, some old, some new. God Bless The Child is off The Woman In Me and is an acoustic reading of a poem I believe, under 2 minutes and not much to it, nice words but I can see why it's last. I Ain't No Quitter! was one of the new songs on her GH, I never really liked it, but it did come alive a bit on her Vegas show. Endless Love is a re-do of one of Lionel's songs. If you watched Shania's docu-series on OWN, you'd see her struggle to ge to the point of recording and how Lionel helped her to overcome her fears. She sounds amazing on it, and the story behind it's recording makes me love it more. You Lay A Whole Lot Of Love On Me is from her debut album, so I imagine people are not too aware of it, since it never made her GH. It's a nice song, but nothing amazing. Dance With The One That Brought You however is great, with a lovely video, directed by Sean Penn no less.
March 27, 201510 yr No real surprise exits there. Although kind of sad that 2/3 of her debut is already out, and 'What Made You Say That' will probably be next. My favorites: The Woman in Me Home Ain't Where His Heart Is (Anymore) (If You're Not in It For Love) I'm Outta Here! Is There Life After Love? You Win My Love Come on Over When I'm Holding on to Love (to Save My Life) Whatever You Do! Don't! Man! I Feel Like a Woman! Love Gets Me Everytime If You Wanna Touch Her, Ask! Up! Gonna Getcha Good! She's Not Just a Pretty Face Nah! (Wanna Get to Know You) That Good! Ka-Ching! Thank You Baby! (For Making Someday Come So Soon) I'm Not in the Mood (to Say No)!
April 4, 201510 yr Author 29 | 7.28 | What Made You Say That 30 | 7.12 | Don't 32 | 7.00 | Today Is Your Day 32 | 7.00 | Party For Two (feat. Billy Currington) 33 | 6.85 | Shoes OMciyWyugKY Heartless beats having Today Is Your Day so low down, it's such a deep and lovely song. I'm just gonna put it down to people not knowing it. Shoes was a song recorded for an album for Desperate Housewives, apparantly there was gonna be a video featuring the ladies, but it never happened. I like it, it's a fun song. Two more songs from her GH appear here, the simple and sad ballad Don't and the country version of Party For Two, clearly the pop version has more appeal since it is still to come. Debut single What Made You Say That is the top song from this bunch, meaning all the songs from her debut album have gone now. Sad times.
April 7, 201510 yr Author rxIfKpsemGo 24 | 7.43 | The Woman In Me (Needs The Man In You) 25 | 7.38 | She's Not Just A Pretty Face 26 | 7.35 | No One Needs To Know 27 | 7.25 | You Win My Love 28 | 7.21 | Home Ain't Where His Heart Is (Anymore) Four songs from The Woman In Me head out now, the slow songs Home Ain't Where His Heart Is (Anymore) and the title track, both really lovely songs, and the uptempo stomper You Win My Love, which I adore so much. Shame on y'all. The final TWIM track to go is No One Needs To Know, tbh, it's pretty average so no real loss. Up! loses it's first song, She's Not Just A Pretty Face, an overlooked single from the era imo. Edited April 7, 201510 yr by Regina
April 7, 201510 yr Quick comments: 'No One Needs to Know' is on TWIM not on COO. Flop stan! NOOOOOO 'She's Not Just a Pretty Face' is my favorite 'Up!' song! Listening to it at the moment. I probably underrated it at the time of the rating. 'Home Aint...' is also too low. 'Today Is Your Day' is awful :(. Those lyrics make me cringe more than her usual cheesiness. 'Shoes' last  It's such a fun song and I like the metaphor.
April 7, 201510 yr No One Needs To Know is the first real loss for me, lovely song. My second fave on The Woman In Me behind Any Man Of Mine!
