Thanks to Andy and Dave on Haven; Gezza, Vidcapper and Martin on Buzzjack; and Music Week as these sources are where I've collected this info from.

Note that the further back the years go, the more sales rely on estimates.

Thank you and you're very welcome! :D

The late 90s generally had high sales, but this week may have been particularly high as there were 3 new entries above it and the other three songs had massive sales the week before and were selling well this particular week too.

  • Author

Thanks for the comments guys! ^_^

Slightly related but do you have a sales total for the 'Celebration' album?

Yes - it had sold 549k as of last week so is probably on 553k now.

  • Author
Added the first week sales for Bedtime Stories (42,041) and Evita (24,674), curtsy of this week's Music Week.
The 1994 figure is again revised down- "originally" it sold 56,000 using the multiplier of the time (just FYI really).

Ah yes, the awkward 1994-6 period! Thanks for the info.

Added the 11,983 that Rebel Heart sold at #7. It experienced a 67.46% decrease which is slightly less than the second week drop for MDNA (68.80% decrease).

I predict 6-7k this week.

EDIT: Rebel Heart sold 12,398, not 11,983.

Great thread

Frozens sales are so impressive !

Would love to know if this was released on two cd versions ?

  • Author
I can only find the one CD for it, with the album version and 4 remixes. I'm not sure why it had such huge sales, obviously the late 90s were known for big first week sales but I can only assume Madonna was still riding high on the success of Evita.

I didn't think it was released on two CDs !! Massive shame that it wasn't !!

Success had nothing to do with evita , the song was universally loved and all over TV and radio !
