April 22, 201510 yr For In The Club (as with The Syndicate) a new cast would make sense. It could but I don't think they will. Like with how Ordinary Lies has been said ended (not seen any of the series yet!), it was in such a way that suggested there will be a follow up series that developed from the loose ends with the same cast. The Syndicate could have has another series with the same cast, judging from the last episode of the first series, too, but with that, it still worked not having those questions answered. In fact, it was more wonder of what could happen next rather than specific questions that needed answers. - I do want to watch Ordinary Lies but I have a feeling I won't like it as much as the other Kay Mellor dramas. From the trailers and synopses of it, it seems to present serious plots in non-serious ways, if that makes sense. As if it's taken the dramatic side of The Syndicate and the light relief of In the Club and put them together, just not with a completely successful outcome.
April 22, 201510 yr Author I think the first series of 'The Syndicate' benefited from not resolving everything and leaving a few open ends but I don't think 'Ordinary Lies' worked in the same way. If they did do a second series with a different cast, I would probably watch but I would find it hard to warm to the characters seeing as though I would know I'll know I'm not going to ultimately find out what happens to them.
December 22, 20159 yr Author A new series has been commissioned but with an all-new cast! This time it will be set in the headquarters of a large national sports company and will begin filming next year. Really, really annoying too see that there's a different cast but maybe this series can perhaps not be as open-ended.
December 23, 20159 yr The BBC seem to have developed a taste for doing this. First The Syndicate, now Ordinary Lies. It makes it easier to retain freshness if they keep bringing in a completely new cast, so I rather like the idea.
