Most, if not all, of these other genres mentioned are sub-divisions of pop anyway in my book.

 

I agree with this. Just because Ed Sheeran and George Ezra have guitars, it doesn't make them Led Zeppelin.

WHy does everyone think Carly's new song will be a success? It's done nothing in the US, apart from the great video. Its airplay is practically zero.

It's doing quite well on pre-orders currently which suggests it will be a hit.

It's just outside the top 100 on pre-orders with a month to go, and in the US it only just went for adds on radio and will explode.

I usuaully love pop, but not this basic trite pop we've had since 1989.

 

Real, quality-made pop like Teenage Dream, yes, but stuff like Really Like You and 1989, no.
