San Francisco 49ers legend John Brodie has died at the age of 90.

The quarterback was the 1970 NFL MVP and spent all his 17 NFL seasons with the 49ers.

Brodie led the NFL with 2,941 yards and 24 touchdowns during his MVP season and his number 12 jersey was retired by San Francisco when he ended his playing career in 1973.

"The 49ers family is saddened to learn of the passing of one of the franchise's all-time great players, John Brodie," said 49ers co-chairman Dr John York.

"As a kid, my 49ers fandom began by watching John play quarterback on television. He displayed an incredible commitment toward his teammates and his support of the organisation never wavered after his playing days.

Sad to hear, always remember both brothers playing for Scotland when I was younger.

NASCAR legend Kyle Busch has died aged 41, after a short, severe illness.

He won his last race exactly 7 days ago and said this - “Take what you can get man, you never know when the last one’s gonna be. Cherish ’em all. Trust me.”

Big blow, I was very emotional yesterday. He was my favorite driver when I was really into NASCAR from about 2008 to 2021. Nobody wanted to win more than Kyle. He was often compared to Dale Earnhardt because of that. He is considered as one of the best wheelmen to ever be in a race car of any kind. Basically the sport's Senna in that regard.

I would really like to have seen what Busch could do in top level open wheeled single seaters but we never really got to see that. Few tintop drivers these days can make the transition successfully, but he might have been one to buck the trend. Unfortunately, without that I can't personally put him alongside the likes of Andretti, Gurney or Foyt but there's no doubt he's among the all time top 10 stock car drivers.

He was very close to running in the Indy 500 twice, 2017 and 2022. He had everything set up in both occasions, but was vetoed by his NASCAR ownder Joe Gibbs in 2017 and sponsorship situations fell through at the last moment in 2022.
