Iggy broke out of her "social media break" to inform us all of her upcoming collaboration with Britney Spears, talked about doing a monthly video stream thing and updated us with info on her 2nd album!

 

After "quitting" Twitter in February and Instagram in March, Iggy Azalea took a quick break from her break Tuesday to talk about her new "Pretty Girls" collaboration with Britney Spears.

"Hi just wanted to come online and tell you all how extremely excited I am for Pretty Girls to be released & that we are going to perform it 2," she wrote.

 

But she didn't stop there. Azalea continued to tell her fans she's still off social media but wants to do a "monthly chat" with them. And she teased the work on her new album, calling it "work" type vibes that "earlier fans will be happy 2 hear."

'Work' vibes? OH YES PLEASE! *.*

Ooh that sounds interesting! I love her more commercial songs but Work is without a doubt one of her best and I liked those moments of The New Classic a lot too. Really excited for this :heart:

Second album coming soon. "For my second album, at the moment, I just started. But one thing I'm really trying to focus on is writing songs that don't necessarily have features as hooks, that's kind of gonna be my second afterthought. I really want to try to have some songs that don't rely so heavily necessarily on melody or other singers, and I really want to try to do that just for me and one of my goals. But there are some other songs that are not just me - that are coming soon, my song with Britney that she's got coming out... I love collaborations, I love working with people so I'm definitely still doing collabs but for now on the album what I'm just really trying to work on is having something that's so solid with just me because I really want to see rap on top 40 radio, on mainstream radio, that doesn't necessarily have to rely on a hook to be crossover and that's a hard thing to find a balance of.. how do you make something crossover but not rely on melody and so I'd like to try to kind of like crack that.. that's what I'm on at the moment"

 

She's mentioned the focusing on solo tracks more as singles this time around quite a few times now.

 

VERY excited!!! Don't even care if it doesnt get as much success as her debut album as it'll be hard to match those achievements but she already proved wrong everyone who said she would never get mainstream success/put on album out/chart in the US etc etc so I just hope she keeps delivering with the great music and having fun now :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Iggy is working on her second album, the followup to 2014's The New Classic.

 

"I just started working on it at the moment and hopefully you'll love it," she says in the video. "It's going to be super uptempo and fun and I'm working on having really chanty choruses so that I can have a song that's just me."

i think one thing i really loved with TNC era was seeing kids like it, before that i didnt really have childrens ears. but this new stuff i think is probably too left for a 10 year old. but you cant have it all, all the time. i think its awesome to see something trans-generational but i can tell you right now your granny wont sing along to the new stuff.

 

i dont think annything ive made on this new project sounds "trap" ish. its unique in other ways.

 

maybe, maybe not. probs not (attending the VMAs). hmmm just dont really want to go and do red carpet press and all that while im working on stuff.

 

probably (releasing a free buzz track), i usually do them so you get an idea of the project's sound. but i dont plan on any music being released this year, period.

In light of all this, I half expect a beaten-down Azalea, but instead I get a breezy Aussie, excitedly chatting about future plans.

 

I shouldn’t be surprised. She did, after all, rap on her single Work: Two feet in the red dirt, school skirt Sugar cane, back lanes Three jobs, took years to save But I got a ticket on that plane People got a lot to say But don’t know sh*t about where I was made… How does she feel about the backlash against her? I ask. “I didn’t do anything different,” she says. “Everyone hated the same thing they loved one summer ago, which is kind of funny.”

 

With the benefit of time to reflect, is there anything she’d have done differently? She sighs. “I think everyone has things they wished they didn’t say, especially when you’re young, and especially when you’re an artist and you’re trying to get out there and you want to be more controversial. “It’s unfortunate if people make it about you being prejudiced or insensitive. “I’m not, and I don’t want people to think that’s my character. You wouldn’t, either. “Who would want that, besides Donald Trump?”

 

For now, she’s looking ahead.

 

She says part of cancelling the tour was about finding a new direction for her album, which she hopes to release in January, as the work she was doing felt stale. “It was important I made something I loved,” she explains. “Right now, I’m doing that. I feel really excited about it and I think my fans will be really excited about it.

 

“It’s nerve-racking when you have success to make something that sounds totally different. “Will people like it? Will this isolate half my fan base? I don’t know, but I have to take a risk and do something that makes me happy to come into work.”

 

Risk-taking is her bread and butter. It would be foolish to dismiss Azalea after what she’s already achieved. “I came into this pushing the envelope and I want to continue to, so it’s important I’m doing that sonically,” she says. “People will be very surprised. There’s no way they won’t be, because it’s very… interesting.”

 

What advice does she have for young Aussie girls trying to break into hip-hop? “Man, it’s tough but it’s worth it,” she says. “Just be unique. That’s kind of ironic for me to say, because I do rap with an American accent and that is me trying to fit in, but I still think I’m not stereotypical. “People want to see and hear different voices and unique individuals. “I spent a long time looking at my idols and wanting to make things the way they did, and sometimes I sacrificed my originality. “When I started experimenting, I had success, so that’s the most important thing.

 

Isn’t that clichéd? To really be yourself. “It’s hard in rap music, especially because there are a lot of stereotypes about what a rapper should be. “I think it’s cooler when you’re totally unexpected.”

Lead single released next year. Tracklist might be only 10 tracks. No deluxe version. Documentary being made about it. New music not as mainstream-sounding as her debut album.

Iggy's confirmed that she will be releasing a new track called Zillion soon :D Just a buzz single, not a proper release, to give a feel of what the album's like. Will also have a video :cheer:

Wait is 'Zillion' the name of the single, or the name of the album (or maybe both)?

 

Looking forward to this though. She'll bomb, not because she's "not doing collabs", but just because the general (undeserved and unjust) backlash against her for some reason (I know 'Trouble' did well, but I think that was more down to the James Corden video). Really hoping that she can get some sort of success out of this!

Seems like she's going back for a "not so mainstream/top 40" sound like she had going during her mixtape days from what she's been hinting ever since she mentioned scrapping 6 months of work for the new album a few months ago so I think even Iggy herself shouldnt be expecting much commercially I'd say (unless she's doing this buzz track thing precisely to fulfill herself creatively and will then have a more radio-friendly lead single again (like the material from her debut album) ?)

She said we might get to hear the actual lead single "as early as December" too :o

 

And she's also hinting the album is called "Digital Distortion" which I would LOVE! :D

 

I hope that is the name of the album! I've changed the topic to correlate to that as "(Album 2)" was doing my head in :lol: I'll obviously change it once we have the official title, if it needs changing.

She confirmed the title last night and 2016 release.

 

And lead single is dropping this month :o It's solo, and so is the buzz track Zillion thats also still dropping soon.

 

The album is almost finished but she'll still pick some features now.

 

She also already shot the cover for it. Will also be doing a tour next year.
