Kylie promotion is full steam ahead as of today, with prominent features (and covers) in both The Sunday Times Style and Sunday Mail You magazines. Kylie also introduced Scissor Sisters at their Trafalgar Square gig last night, to a rapturous welcome.

 

Today's You magazine features an interview with Jane Gordon in which Kylie discusses the release of her new children's book The Showgirl Princess. She talks about how the book gave her something to pre-occupy some of her time while undergoing her breast cancer treatment last year.

 

"It was something different that wasn't physically challenging which I could do at that time", she says. " I couldn't do anything else, but I could - if I felt up to it - sit at my computer and work on the book. A lot of it was done by email. The illustrator was in New York and she would send me her ideas and then I would send her back my thoughts and then we would add other images and polish it until it was perfect".

 

Kylie also talks about the support she felt from the company of boyfriend Olivier's pet dog Sheeba, who also features throughout the book. "She was very important during my treatment - there were many long hugs on the sofa during that time," she remembers in the interview. "We are devoted to each other. She even came along to the Chanel show with me earlier this year".

 

On work on a new album, Kylie comments: "When I went back into the studio I was very nervous, but it was very good to discover that everything was still working. I hadn't sung for more than a year and it was reassuring to know that nothing had changed."

 

Kylie's work on a new album has included a reportedly very successful new teaming up with pals Scissor Sisters, who she has co-written and recorded one particular song (rumoured to be called Diamonds) which is being touted as possible single material. SS's Jakes Shears commented in the press this week that not only did he think that Kylie is "an amazing singer" and vastly underrated, but stressed the point by commenting that he thought that the only two other female singer he considered to be of the same calibre as Kylie are Kate Bush and Dolly Parton. And indeed Scissor Sisters work with Kylie has featured subtle inspiration from both these artists.

 

Elsewhere in today's press is an in-depth fashion piece in The Sunday Times Style magazine, where Kylie features adorning the outfits of a number of up and coming London fashion designers. With old pal William "Willy" Baker seemingly back on the Kylie team, Kylie looks stunning and more cutting edge than ever.
