Ballot Monkeys is a new improvisational sitcom from the Outnumbered creators and focuses on four fictional candidates running for election. They are played by Trevor Cooper (Labour), Hattie Morahan (Conservative), Ben Miller (Lib Dem), Sarah Hadland (UKIP). It is filmed on the day of transmission helping the show to be topical in the run up to the election.

It will air on Tuesdays at 10pm.

I'm really looking forward to this, especially due to it's improvisational, up-to-date nature!

This was actually really good. Thought that the Liberal Democrat segments were the funniest.

Loved that the two stars from 'Episodes' were there too (excited for that to return soon!).

This was excellent, the UKIP people were the funniest but everyone got a good round of laughs. It really is a cross between The Thick Of It and Drop The Dead Donkey.

it's been a terrific series, clever, topical, amusing, well-acted, and recorded/acted at an amazingly fast pace

Ballot Monkeys is getting a sequel, Power Monkeys, which like Ballot Monkeys will be written and filmed on the day. It will air in June, and will focus on the Brexit campaign, and also on the American election campaign. No mention of the cast though, although it's possible some of the cast from BM will return.

I agree Drop the Dead Donkey was awesome. They don't make them like they used to.

"Power Monkeys" starts this evening at 10pm. Jack Dee & Claire Skinner among the cast, so it doesn't look as if anyone from Ballot Monkeys is returning.

And it's gone international :o

Yes Vladimir and Donald's staff, just to even out the antics

It was quite good, very much Drop The Dead Donkey tradition, Andy Hamilton still sharp.

I really enjoyed this last night. I thought the Russian part fell slightly flat. I think on its own as a skit, or a part of a varied sketch show it would have felt funnier. I loved the American parts, although the jokes started to get a bit samey by the end. The EU ref bits were very good. I am looking forward to next weeks episode. Do we know if we will get more episodes as we get closer to the vote?
