I guess you missed this part 'I just have to remember to look past the more extreme of their rhetoric to see the underlying story.'

sometimes the underlying story is very very hidden. For instance Private Eye is reporting how the money behind the thinktank that Boris Johnson is using (allegedly) tax payers money to host sessions on pushing for a hard Brexit right now, is actually a multi-billion asset stripping arrangement that has made billions buying up distressed assets at bargain bin prices in countries that have had a massive economic hit (this is a matter of record).

It doesn't take much of a leap in logic to ask "well, why would a company involved in asset stripping (essentially) be interested in pushing a political view that most economists think will be a huge economic shock to the UK?". Could it be that they see a bargain bin UK they can buy up coming over the horizon, or are they doing it because the UK is going to be ravishingly successful and they won't be able to buy any bargain assets?

The Daily Mail won't be reporting on that (billionaire owner who lives abroad) neither will the Sun (billionaire owner who lives in America). Funny how foreign billionaires are VERY attracted to Brexit and not disclosing what they are up to (with all their offshore accounts).....

The stories they choose are based around his propaganda. Right wing nonsense.

Is that a direct quote from the Guardian?

No. Anyone with an ounce of sense and an enquiring mind can see a rich power-hungry right-wing self-interested liars for what they are.

More of interest, despite your protests the contrary, is your ongoing habit of not criticising any aspect of Brexit as carried out by the Tories so far, the right-wing press generally. And before you say "I don't have to that's your job" that makes you one-sided in any discussion. If you wish to convince anyone you are right you have to say something that is convincing and clearly thought out, not just repeating party-slogans that have shown to be false.

I, for example, am happy to slag off other parties where they are lying or being hypocritical (it's just no-one responds to the contrary at length about it at present).

Whatever I post, you only see what you want to see in it - makes me wonder why I bother...

please just refer me to your past comments that show me to be making unfair sweeping statements, I can accept being wrong and take it like a man, honest!

You are obviously just toeing the right wing press line.

Is it 'toeing' or towing'?

Either way, it implies blindly following, but I've explained before that my opinions were formed long before I ever started reading the Daily Mail.

Toeing.

The Independent's name was meant to reflect its ownership as well as its (initial) political neutrality. It has gradually move to occupy a position on the centre-left which is now reflected by its readers' voting habits. Which way round that shift happened is a separate issue.

I'm always amazed at the number of Mail and Express readers who vote Labour. Why do they spend time and money on a paper that rarely gives Labour anything remotely resembling fair coverage?

It would have been interesting to see the i included. As it sells more copies than the Guardian and FT and a lot more than the Independent's subscribers, it shouldn't have been difficult to find i readers.

The 'i'?

As for Labour-voting Mail/Express readers- maybe it's bought by someone else in the household, and they don't want to pay for another one?

The trouble with polls on what people think of "no deal" or a "bad deal" is that we have no idea what people think those terms mean. We have no idea what they think the consequences of leaving without a deal will be or what they think "a bad deal" is. Therefore, all such polls are utterly meaningless.

I posted it for the 'voting intention' poll, as I agree with you about the above.

Latest poll : Guardian/ICM

The state of the parties in November is as follows:

Conservative 41% (-1)

Labour 41% (-1)

Lib Dem 7% (nc)

SNP 4% (+1)

PLaid Cymru *% (nc)

Green 2% (nc)

UKIP 4% (+1)

Other *% (nc)

ISTM that party support is now as polarized as I can ever remember.

IMO it is the threat of Corbyn becoming PM that is holding Tory support together despite everything that has happened recently.

OTOH UKIP at 4% suggests that actually them switching to the Tories is what is keeping the Tories vote up, as the anti-EU voters remain ever-hopeful that they won't be proven to be completely wrong.

But the UKIP vote was up 1% while the Tories are down 1%, so surely that suggests any switching is actually the opposite way?

Yes and that threat will ensure Labour lose the next election too unless they change leader. Another hung parliament with Tories largest party is my prediction.
