Well its your decision on the lounge job and I think you'd probably regret it if you quit it, however tiresome it may be. I know how you feel about the lounge as well as I feel that way with a lot of threads.

 

If I look back to when the site first launched though loads has changed; some for the good and some for the bad. I do feel out of place sometimes on here though quite a bit.

That's the thing though, I thought about it and I actually wouldn't miss one thing about resigning. I mean I'd still get access to the Staff Areas and would get a lot less hassle via PM and through the boards.

 

At the start I really enjoyed the site, just like ChC. But recently I just don't GET the discussion that goes on. Don't get me wrong it's still an excellent site but I just don't fit in with the general Lounge posters thesedays. It's nothing that I'm unhappy about, just the general turnover of posters that ALWAYS happen on boards like this.

Yeah if you put it that way then I guess you wouldn't miss stuff from resigning. I can imagine the lounge being a real hassle.

 

Well i'm in the same boat as you really. I don't get half of the discussion that goes on and sometimes I don't actually want to know whats going on as I might find it all a bit disturbing, I mean thats what I like about this thread as its just somewhere where you can talk about anything and understand everything thats been talked about.

I get where you're coming from. To be frank the lounge in a lot of ways is just a load of spam filled with :kink: and :smoke:, if its not random it centres around silly questions/articles from some The Sun or another rate/list/questionaire things. There is zilch depth and its been like that from the start in here. It lacks the classic threads that featured on CC, I mean would you call ANY of the threads on here classics? Nope.

 

I've actually tried breaking into the the lounge but it just doesn't really happen much. Its so hard to find a thread to post something I actually want to post in. I can avoid the lounge where as your in a way chained to it and can't really avoid it. I suppose having an alienation doesn't help you in anyway either. It seems from what you've said you'd feel better without the position bogging you down. I don't know whether I'm in a any place tos say this but you strike me as an honest person and as lounge mod you have to hold your tongue and stay within "mod behavior code" when you've got something to say.

Well imo there needs to be a stop to all the games etc, hangman, city boot and immunes it adds NOTHING to the site.

 

Also a stop to these daft lists, shuffling songs, fav members etc. A reduction in the number of rates/WITOYs and more of a general focus on decent discussion.

 

Also stop with the daft spammy pointlessness that is all around in association with :kink: :smoke: , that "post whores" thread seems to be where it centres around amongst other threads. Maybe create a lounge INC to keep all off topic stuff in?

I wouldn't say that its run but the popular members but the more popular members have a big infuence on what goes on. I think some members try too hard to be liked and are therefore kinda forced to use. :kink: and :smoke: when maybe they don't want to use them but if they didn't use them then they'd just be shunned and ignored which would not be the case.

I agree about the games. I sometimes play them because i'm bored because there are not other decent topics but I reckon that will be the general feeling with all the posters. Some members shun the decnet topics in favour of the games as it boosts your post tally and I agree that games shouldn't really be of a general focus in the lounge.

 

Someones brought across the idea of an INC in the lounge, but personally I don't think it would work. It would just be another place where spam centres so post counts can be increased.

 

Well over the next couple of days if I get bored enough i'm gonna surf some other sites and look for decent threads. The best place to visit would be CC, but that sites really gone to the bakers now.

I like the popularity contests but they do need to be limited and set out across a time frame so everyone knows when they come around, because if you have popularity contests too close to each other you get just about the same results all the time with no real changes.

I think a calendar for all the rates etc would be brilliant as then members would know when exactly the popularity contests are coming up and there would be no hu-ha with members asking when they were happening or anything.

 

Yeah you can code something along the lines of a forum where it doesn't add to your post count but I think the forum would fall flat on its arse. Members who spam are only intrested in boosting their post count and so if that was to happen they wouldn't have a need to post in there as it would be no benefit to them, due to the fact it wouldn't boost their post count.

 

I think cutting down the spam topics is always gonna be a problem as its hard to class sometimes what is spam and what isn't and also I think the politics forum takes a vast amount of discussion away from the lounge as at the end of the day thats where you get the big discussions on all the controversial issues.

I don't think you'll ne unpopular with what you've said. It NEEDED to be said and you've had the balls to come out and say in and you been lounge moderator makes it an even more serious situation if even you think its $h!t at the moment.

 

I've tried thinking to threads but I generally think what is the point?
