Christer said they are going to downsize the contest even FURTHER in 2016. Oops

Seriously though? :nocheer:

BAH, Russia should've won. :kink:

Also, why is everyone rating Vienna so low? It wasn't that bad of a contest was it?

It wasn't bad but all the f*** ups and lack of amazing interval acts or fabulous jokes (other than Conchita's ofc) add up. There really were no super bad or super amazing contests so it's hard to rank them.

Mirjam's sarcasm and unimpressed attitude though

Alice: "Thank you Valentina, see you next year in the Eurovision stage!"

Mirjam: "Yeah... Can't wait..."

Gold. But yes it was very poor host and entertainment wise. I still rank it all higher than Baku though, that really was an appalling contest to me. Stiff hosts, horrid interval acts (wtf was that 'past winner Waterloo tribute' thing?). I only liked the Arena lit up from the outside really.

We should do a rate.~

Standard first glance choices there. I think Sweden will not go in a direction that obvious.

Only just seen this, why would he want to do that? It's already so tricky for fans to get tickets when capacity is around 10k, and in Sweden they'd easily fill the Tele 2 Arena for example. Surely there's money to be made from ticket sales and subsequent increase in tourism to more than offset the cost of using a bigger arena?

I fear pre-recorded backing vocals are going to be "the big change" for 2016 as I'm sure we'll get one with Christer in charge, with "better sounding performances" and "lower costs for participants due to being able to have smaller delegations" the main reasons given for the change. I guess it works okay in Melodifestivalen but at the same time some Melodifestivalen acts rely so heavily on backing vocals that the artist barely sing themselves and I'm not sure that's fair.

I'm sure the Wiener Stadthalle was booked up too, but they moved the booked events to other places. ESC Today are reporting that Tele 2 and Friends have both confirmed they are amongst Stockholm's bid: http://esctoday.com/104526/eurovision-2016...tential-venues/

That said, Gothenburg wouldn't be too bad although I think Scandinavium is even smaller, slightly, than Malmo Arena?

I think Friends would be a bad choice, by all accounts the acoustics there aren't brilliant and I think there comes a point where a big arena is too big (Parken in 2001 anybody?).

Tele2 seems like a slightly better version of Friends but with essentially all the same problems so Globen would be my call for the venue.

Just so we are clear: I actually KNOW #Kosovo will participate in next years @Eurovision #ESC2016 event. I can't tell you how yet though ;)

He is the deputy foreign minister of Kosovo or something along those lines, I'm not sure how this can happen though? :o

  • 1 month later...

Globen in Stockholm has been confirmed as the venue for Eurovision 2016.

LOVE this venue, happy memories of Melodifestivalen 2009 <3 Perfect little area around the arena for fan parties and random little shopping mall PA's as well :D

Rita Ora for Kosovo 2016.

*United Kingdom

maybe we'd actually do well this year if that happened :)

Gonna have a look at flights and rooms a little later. Might see you there Phil!
